Combining Classical Writing and Sonlight....

because both are teacher intensive.

Another concern I have is the compatibility of their educational approaches. Sonlight uses Ruth Beechick's approach in their language arts and also they pick books for their emotional appeal which is why they use so many history fiction books. Sonlight seems to be more of a big picture approach than CW.

CW seems to be more of a parts to whole style. And they use formal grammar programs such as Harvey and seems to be more minimalist.

I obviously have a hard time deciding on just one approach and wonder if I can combine both or would that short circuit my homeschool since they seem to be so different from each other?

I want to combine CW (not with sonlight though) starting next year...

I figure that CW is not an AIO curriculum, ie. you'd still need your own history etc. anyway. I think of CW as a writing program, a good writing program that covers more than just writing. I plan to combine it with our current LA. I haven't done it yet though, so I can't say it will work!

I wouldn't attempt to do both Sonlight LA and CW Writing. Well, at least not all of Sonlight LA. I guess we'll see how it goes this year. We are a bit late starting Aesop but not yet ready for Homer. I'm always trying to combine way too many curriculums and educational philosophies. :) Let us know what you decide on.
