nynyny
My son is a rising junior planning on a science major in college. He is tentatively planning on AP classes in calculus, chemistry and stats for 12th grade. Three AP classes is more than enough for his senior year. After reading so many posts regarding AP English, I am thinking perhaps he should be enrolled in an AP English language and composition class during his junior year. He has not been enrolled in any online writing classes. Can anyone advise me as to what type of "prerequisites" would be expected of him for an AP English course? Do most homeschoolers take AP English in their junior and senior years? The college he will be attending doesn't award credit for AP classes, but he just wants to be prepared for English 101. Muttichen
I was pleasantly surprised by how much my math/science boy loved PA Homeschooler's AP English Lit with Debra Bell. I was expecting it to be torture, but he really enjoyed analyzing literature. He had read a lot and I had him write an analytical essay after each book, but he had never had a formal writing class before the AP class. nynyny
Thanks for answering! How many hours per week would you say he invested in it?
Muttichen
Maybe 8 hours per week? A lot of that is reading though, and if you enjoy the stories, it's not work :)
nynyny
I think he would enjoy having somebody else critique his writing. Thanks so much for your input! Katie
