razorbackmama
Can the I See Sam readers be used as a stand-alone reading program? Or should I use Dancing Bears alongside them? Is there a placement test for Dancing Bears? I see one for Apples & Pears, but I'm unsure of where to begin with Dancing Bears (or something else in the series). The child I'm looking at using them with is on Lesson 2 in Barton Book 4, if that helps at all in figuring out where to place him in the Sound Foundations stuff.:001_smile:
Shay
Yes, I See Sam can be a stand alone for learning to read. If you wanted spelling, you'd have to do something else. If you want a more integrated reading and spelling, the Sound Foundations materials would give that. I am a huge Sam fan and consider it a very effective and motivational beginning reading program.
