How many days a year do you homeschool?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the replies! To clear things up, I'm inquiring about formal schooling.

I think at the root of my thread is this... I feel like I'm such a hard a** when it comes to schooling. It's like pulling teeth to get me to give a day off. So I've been surprised this year and the last to only come up to 190 days (projected for this year). But I've never sat down and planned a whole year of school days vs. vacation. I just take off as I see fit. Perhaps planning is the key.

I map out my year ahead of time. I plan on a 40 week year, so that we have a few weeks at the end for fun projects when we're finished with Sonlight (and other 36-week stuff). Once I see my year laid out on a calendar, I have a clearer idea of how much time I'm willing to take off. I think it's easy to think you're doing a lot more formal schooling than you are. (Not you personally. :001_smile: I know a few people irl who only manage 2-3 days of formal school a week . . . if they're lucky.)
