Danestress
but it's making me nuts that anytime I hit on our local news online, I get headlines about the "cheerleader murder." Is is just me, or do others feel as uncomfortable with defining a victim over and over and over by one things they did. "Cheerleader" "Grandma" "Ex-Marine" "Single Mother." Like that one thing defines them and identifies them in some really newsworthy way. I'm sure this girl was so much more than a cheerleader. Maybe she was a "B student." Maybe she was an "older sister." Maybe she was "Second place spelling bee finalist." I don't know. Can't they just call her by name?
Jen500
I stopped watching the local news years ago when they kept playing some upsetting video footage involving a gruesome murder over. and. over. and. over.
Danestress
I stopped watching the local news years ago when they kept playing some upsetting video footage involving a gruesome murder over. and. over. and. over. This is actually online - like if you check headlines on Yahoo. I have it set to give me headlines for national news, world news, and local news. annlaura
Long before I was born, someone close to the family was murdered. The press called the case the Marigold Murder because she was carrying marigolds. My mother would not plant marigolds, even though she likes them. And even now I feel strange about them. But really, marigolds were not the most important aspect of the victim's life. So yes, I know what you mean.
