Embassy
I am looking for a book, resource, workbook, or something along those lines that will give a brief overview of American History. But I am looking a non-nationalistic perspective or one that teaches American History from a world perspective with different viewpoints rather than the typical romanticized version that teaches American is the best. Does anything exist like that?

Does anything exist like that? You might consider Howard Zinn's Young Peoples History of the United States. This is an adaptation of a longer work aimed at adults and presents stories from "the other side" of American History. For that reason I do not think I'd call it a "balanced" history, but it brings to light stories and perspectives that are often ignored in a typical history text. http://www.amazon.com/Peoples-History-United-Enhanced-Omnibus/dp/1583228691 Bill Edited March 5, 2011 by Spy Car

Satori
Oh cool, I was reading Howard Zinn's normal book aloud to Satori. We're loving it, it certainly is an eye-opener! I just got the Kindle version of his Young People's History book you mentioned, we'll read this one instead. :)
