megsy
(Hi, I'm new here and new to homeschooling.) We've decided on Saxon Math for our first grader and I'm looking at Rainbow Resource at the manipulatives. For those of you who have experience with this curriculum, are the optional items preferable to have? Thanks in advance for any insight. jaltman25
That's a good question, we are going to do Saxon Math too, starting with K. But I will say that I found it cheaper at this site... www.schoolhousesource.com The K math kit is $47.95, K-3 Manipulatives are $52.
megsy
The prices for those at Rainbow are $47.50 and $47.00, IIRC. But there could be differences, I don't know. I'm so new at this it's laughable.

JudoMom
shameless bump I don't recall missing them. I did buy this teaching clock because I wanted a geared clock.
megsy
I saw that in the catalog and drooled over it! I'm a curriculum junkie :(
~Puddins~
I bought the manipulatives, but not one of the "upgraded" sets, just the regular set. I have one son doing K and one in book 2 and so far the average set of manipulatives has been just great. I would not spend extra for optional stuff.
