CAT Standardized Test...

I'm thinking of doing this for my current 2nd and 5th graders. I just want a general overview of where they're at, give some test taking experience, want to keep it simple without spending a bunch of time preparing for a test. Any cons to this test for these purposes?

And which level do I buy---current school year or grade they'll be next year? Plan to take it end of April/Early May. Thanks for any input! Blessings, Gina

I agree that the CAT 5 is good for what you are looking for. I order from Family Learning Organization (http://www.familylearning.org/). Their prices tend to be less expensive, the customer service is wonderful and the turn around time for results (computer scored) has been less than 10 days, in the 3 years that I have used them.

Good luck!

I had checked with Christian Liberty and the tests were only about $25 ea. Bayside is $50 each and is CAT 5. What's the difference? Also, on another thread here, I thought it said CAT just tested 3 R's, but one of the links here said the test prep. is for social studies, etc., too.

Is the CAT 5 a better test for 3 R's, or am I o.k. with Christian Liberty's? Thanks for any help! Blessings, Gina
