I just want a general overview of where they're at, give some test taking experience, want to keep it simple without spending a bunch of time preparing for a test. Any cons to this test for these purposes? And which level do I buy---current school year or grade they'll be next year? Plan to take it end of April/Early May. Thanks for any input! Dana Posted February 20, 2011 Share Posted February 20, 2011 I don't see any cons to your purposes. Order the tests for their current grade level (unless you want to give an out-of-level test). I order from Family Learning Organization (http://www.familylearning.org/). Their prices tend to be less expensive, the customer service is wonderful and the turn around time for results (computer scored) has been less than 10 days, in the 3 years that I have used them. What's the difference? Also, on another thread here, I thought it said CAT just tested 3 R's, but one of the links here said the test prep. is for social studies, etc., too.
