She was taken by ambulance to a much larger hospital two hours away from her home to be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. She is still in the emergency room there. My mom called me a few hours ago. Either way, may I encourage you to rally the family around her, keep her spirits up, and motivate her to get up out of bed as soon as medically possible. I worked in orthopedic nursing for a year and I can't tell you how important it is to have the family advocate. Getting elderly patients up and out of the hospital should also be a priority.
