twoxcell
My ds will be done with Singapore math 2b in April, and we won't start our new school year until July. I'm planning on doing a few of the little house books with the prairie primer from mid April until June. We will take June off. Should I start ds in Singapore 3a in April or what kind of review would you suggest between 2b, and 3a. I have the extra practice book from SM 2 which he could use, but he has done some of it already. I could also just have him practice his facts. Dana
I'd go ahead and start with 3A - unless you see any topics you need to review first.
Crimson Wife
How well does he know his multiplication facts? He's not going to get very far in 3A unless he has them down pat. What I would do is to drill, drill, drill those times tables until he knows them backwards, forwards, and sideways.
twoxcell
Which ones? He knows his 2's and 3's pretty well. We review his ad, sub, multi, div, weekly. Which ones should he know before starting 3a?
Dana
My memory is when starting 3A, they expect the times tables (mult & div) for 1-5 and 10.
Mallory
You could do some MEP or CSMP (is that right?) activites. They are both free on line.
Ray
Dana's memory is correct up to ten on those times tables.. I would spend quality time playing with the Place value concepts and just drill the X tables whenever. Time spent with intuitive geometry will pay off further down the math road; things like tangram puzzles, soma cubes, cuttings, etc for enrichment.
