ChristusG
I planted black seeded simpson lettuce. It's ready to be harvested (actually, it's more than ready to be harvested....it's been planted for over two months now). Do I just cut the leaves off? With scissors? Near the base? And what do I do with it afterwards? Is just washing it with water sufficient for cleaning? I've never had a garden and to think of eating something that's been outside....with bugs crawling all over it....just seems like it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly LOL. Beatusduo
I have never had Simpson lettuce, but this is what I do with my garden lettuce. Cut leaves with sissors near the base. Fill up the sink with cold water, and put lettuce in water and swish around. Remove lettuce and put it in a salad spinner and spin lettuce dry. If you don't have a spinner. Place lettuce on a towel and pat dry. Eat! Or place lettuce in a bowl and store in fridge. I love fresh lettuce. Enjoy!
DarcyB
Yep - that's all it takes :) (assuming you having used any chemical fertilizers or bug repellants - then I wouldn't eat it LOLOL). Sorry. small rant side track. Yes, that's really all it takes! Enjoy it!
