Marie463
I could use some advice... DS5 is working in FLL1 and WWE1 this year...the content is not a problem at all, nor is the writing/narration. He has plenty of stamina to complete the writing required in the programs and his writing is quite legible. My concern, however, is that he is not forming the letters properly...particularly the lower-case letters. For instance, he'll start at the bottom of a letter (like a "t") or complete the loop part of the "e" and then do the bottom curve. We are also working through HWT K level, but lower-case letters are not addressed until the end of the book. So...is this something that will smooth itself out over time (he's a young 5...plenty of time to address this in the future)....OR, should I shelve some of the curriculum like WWE and have him work through HWT at a faster pace so that I can make certain that he's writing properly? (I think that we could finish the K level of HWT in a matter of just few weeks if I encouraged him to do so and we could then pick back up with some of the more writing intensive curriculum) What would you do? Thanks in advance!
2smartones
Couldn't you just skip to the end of the HWT book (and even make copies to do those pages over and over)? We skip around on handwriting all the time to address problems before they become habits.
Tracy
I would switch to cursive. You can't make those types of mistakes when you are writing in cursive. I regret that I didn't know about this when I taught dd5 to write. But ds2 will definitely learn cursive when he is ready to write.
