Ok really, I'd love a set of World Book Encyclopedias, but it's not in my budget. So I got the next best thing: World Book Encyclopedia 2010 edition on dvd rom.

For $39.99, you just can't beat the price. It includes everything in the encyclopedias: articles, pictures, timelines, etc. plus you get free updates for a year, which I thought was cool. You can print the articles and pictures, and there is even audio available which is great for composer and poetry studies.

 

Anyways, just thought I'd share because this is something I never would have thought of if I hadn't stumbled onto it by accident.

I got an entire set of encyclopedias for $5 at a library book sale. At the time, they were only 4 years old, so I considered it a good thing!

 

Unfortunately, that was 10 years ago.

We can do that here, but I agree with the OP that the cd is great. I can let the kids search without having to worry about content on the internet.
