tamara in ok
I would appreciate any help anyone could give on comparing Harold Jacobs Geometry with Dr. Callahan's DVD's to Life of Fred's Geometry. We already own the former and my dd(16) wants to do the latter. Thanks in advance. Tamara in OK
Miss Marple
We used both with ds#2. I'm not sure I can really articulate the issues, but I'll give you our experience. Ds#2 is math adept and I have no problem teaching it. That said, LOF geometry was a bust for us because we found it rather confusing. If I tried to help him, it necessitated a lot of reading on my part to get to where I needed to be. So we traded that for Jacob's Geometry with Callahan DVDs. DS did much better and didn't really need or use the DVDs much. There seemed to be adequate instruction in Jacob's for him to be able to do the problem sets. We still used Callahan's syllabus. I'm sure there are plenty who will do fine with LOF Geometry, but it wasn't for us.
