recs for Bible memory

What are some good chapters from the Bible for dds 5 and 7 to memorize next year? Something that isn't too hard for their age, but will be good to have with them for their lives. thanks!

I don't have my list with me, but some of the things off the top of my head that we are doing this coming year: pledge to the Bible, pledge to the Christian flag, plagues of Egypt, Jesus' disciples, days of creation, the 10 commandments, the Lord's prayer, John 3:16, Psalm 23, books of old and new testament ... I can't remember all the versus off the top of my head, but if you want I can post them tomorrow.

Psalm 100 and Psalm 23

We use Awana's as a starting point, and usually try to read the related Bible story & talk about that for the week.

 

Another thought would be to find out what Sunday School curriculum your church uses. You can then easily google it to find the order of the lessons, and figure out what they will be talking about in class. So you can spend the week prior talking about the story or lesson, and working on the one verse within the lesson that summarizes it most completely.

We started with Psalm 100. Both kids now know:

Psalm 100

Psalm 113

Psalm 121

 

This year, we plan to memorize Psalm 103.

 

We're really enjoying Sword Fighting scripture memorization (for when your dc are older).
