ConnieB
Looking for something comparable in coverage to Apologia's high school texts (General/Physical/Biology/Chemistry/Physics) but more secular. Links would be great, titles fine too, lol. Thank you.
elizabeth
I use textbooks suggested by AP . Here is a link to the whole meghilla for Biology at the end of the list you see texts http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/courses/teachers_corner/2117.html For other courses I simply start with the graph click on the ourse I am considering and there are syllabi, text suggestions etc. I think it is the coolest thing ever. http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/courses/teachers_corner/index.html You can be sure that these selections will pass muster at any uni/college as a satisfactory background, if you choose to have your child sit for the test it is even better. We are doing a combo of textbook and popular science books by contemporary authors that also are considered to be cutting edge in some fashion. You cannot go wrong with philosophy of science books either. Thomas Kuhn , Carl Popper, Stephen Pinker, and Saul Kripke are all on our list of must read theorists. The great thing about popular science books is they make science sexy for those who otherwise might not see the subject as particularly exciting. Hope this helps Edited May 17, 2010 by elizabeth bad linkage
