Most things that require birth certificates require certified originals and not copies. It is also required around here to participate in activities. As a means of verifying age. There's really not that much information on there. But I don't know all that much about identity theft, so maybe I'm missing something. It is used to verify age. All the same, I would use an envelope that will not allow you to see what is inside and then just try really hard to trust the postal service. If you make it bigger it will distort it, smaller it will make it harder to copy and use, should someone get ahold of it. Also, you could try writing VOID VOID VOID all over it, leaving the pertinent info visible. Just let the powers that be know before you send it.
