hscherger
I am using R&S grammar for the first time (the seventh grade book) with my 7th grade daughter. She is very strong in english and has done fine on her assignments, but doesn't always seem to fully understand the lessons. I am wondering if I should be instructing her or is she supposed to be independent in grammar at this point?
stephanie
I am using R&S grammar for the first time (the seventh grade book) with my 7th grade daughter. She is very strong in english and has done fine on her assignments, but doesn't always seem to fully understand the lessons. I am wondering if I should be instructing her or is she supposed to be independent in grammar at this point? Last year my 7th grader son did R&S 7, and I taught him his lessons. At one time I had him try to do the lessons on his own, but he told me that he just understood better when I went over it with him. At that level R&S can get very in-depth and confusing so I understood the need for help. I would go over the lesson with her and see if she understands. I would do a few of the oral drill just to be certain, then cut her loose on the lesson. I also would assign just odd or even and also did the review and practice. HTH!
