Alphabetika
How did this work for you? Did your student enjoy it? Learn from it? How were the lectures? Were they at all visual, with graphics and pictures, or just power points and a voice? I'd like to know anything you have to share. Thank you! TravelingChris
WQe have just started to use this. I will write more this afternoon but my daughter liked the DIVE program better than she liked the BJU language DVD \program..
Christy B
We are about six weeks in to this -- my dd LOVES it. The lecture is more of a power point with voice. We are using it along with the BJU Biology text, but I believe there are several different texts that are outlined to go with the DIVE cd, including Apologia. I like the fact that it helps dd focus on the key information -- biology is HUGE, you can never learn it all. Also, she is learning to take notes, etc. You print out worksheets for each DIVE lesson and use those instead of the worksheets or questions in the biology text. My one concern is that the answers for the worksheets are given at the end of the lecture. I can't always be right there when dd does her work. In my house, this is an issue, ymmv. I'm thinking of pulling some of the self-checks, quizzes, etc from the textbook to use as "tests".
Alphabetika
This is very helpful - thank you. We have BJU Biology and haven't started it yet because, frankly, it looks intimidating to me. I did look at samples online before I bought, but in person it looks much harder than the biology I had all those years ago. I am intrigued by the DIVE idea; my biggest hesitation is that my dd may not like this format. But I know we both will need help understanding the material, and, with a newborn in the house, my time is a bit limited at the moment.;) So, please keep the responses coming. Also, is there anywhere I can see/hear a sample of a lecture?
yinne
http://www.diveintomath.com/pageDisplay.cfm?pageno=238ans&zpid=442&sesstime=now You can see samples for the various science courses that are available at this link. My dd is using DIVE Chemistry this year with the Apologia text and is doing well. She would tell you that she isn't necessarily enjoying it, after all it is chemistry (or plug in any science), but she is learning!! She has stated that he is a good teacher.
