swimmermom3
One of the resources that Barb utilizes in her 5th grade program for Harmony Fine Arts is the book, Prehistoric Art, by Susie Hodge. I am curious to know if anyone here has done the "Make your own cave painting project"? If you did, did it work out well, and what type of materials did you use? For instance, do they still make paste? Isn't that the stuff the weird kid in your kindergarten class was always eating? Did you use chalk? Do they have chalk that isn't in pastel colors? Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative Prehistoric art project for a 6th grader? I can fall back on an Aborigine dot or stone painting project if I have to. I was just looking for something fresh.

swimmermom3
Thanks, Barb! I was playing with the idea of making a "cave wall" out of plaster of paris. However, I'm not familiar enough with its qualities to know what will happen when I apply chalk or paint. I would probably have to prime it first. Your links definitely give me some things to work with.
