Learning odd vs. even numbers

When we covered it with Singapore, they had us pair up socks to explain evens. Then if it was an odd number, there was an odd one out.

Maybe odds are easier to identify because they are, well, odd. Y'know, weirdos always stand out! :)

As far as memorizing it, I don't know why even is supposed to be easier. Maybe we were just taught/drilled that so much.

In RightStart they start odds and evens with a loud followed by a soft. For evens she would say 1 (soft) 2 (loud) 3 (soft).....and so on. Reversing it for odds. Then RS has them say the soft number in their head. Once they have that down then RS has them say the odds and evens to 25, then 50, and finally 100. Once that is mastered RS has them say them forwards to 10 and then backwards.
