Aubrey
The kids have a flamingo, an alligator, a pillow, & a wagon, & they're in the kitchen trying to figure out this riddle. So far, they insist it's impossible. ETA: There's a chicken, a fox, & some chicken feed on an island. A guy w/ a boat has to get all 3 to the other side, but he can only carry one at a time, & the chicken & the fox can't be left alone together, or the fox will eat the chicken. The chicken & the chicken feed can't be left alone together, or the chicken will eat the chicken feed. My dad used to give me riddles like this & offer small rewards for solving them. I later found out that it was because he didn't know the answers sometimes. But the one I figured out in college? He denied having offered $5 for the solution. :glare: Edited August 19, 2009 by Aubrey

shalom22
I will give it a go: First trip across: farmer carries chicken to other side, Goes back and gets feed to take across, drops off feed and picks up chicken and takes back to other side, drops off chicken and takes fox to other side with the feed. goes back and get the chicken, all are on the same side again. Get it?
*********
I love riddles like that! Ok, is this the answer... *POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT BELOW!! :D 1) guy and chicken go across 2) guy goes back alone, chicken stays by itself on 'second' side 3) guy and chicken feed go across 4) chicken feed stays on second side, chicken goes with guy back across to fox 5) guy and fox go across, chicken stays at the 'Start' side 6) guy leaves fox on second side with chicken feed, goes back to 'start' side alone 7) guy brings chicken over to second side, and now everyone/everything is there together Is that it? ETA: Hey, shalom22, great minds think alike! :)
