Ginevra
Anyone know of something like this for around a 3rd grade level? I want to play it in the car to help my son expand his vocabulary.

PeterPan
Books on cd, really good books, are fabulous for that. My dd listened to books on tape by the hour while she would play, basically any time I wasn't reading to her. Narnia, Charlotte's Web, that sort of thing, anything densely written as WTM puts it. I was just reading Beatrix Potter to my 8 month old tonight, and it's pretty stunningly written too. Pretty much any good book on tape will do. Once they can read, give them lots of books and limit the potato chip reading.
Ginevra
Thanks, but this is not really the right thing. We get books on tape from the library all the time, plus my kids have been read to since before they could roll over. My son just doesn't absorb vocabulary that way. I am giving him vocabulary on cards out of his reading, but I was thinking of something like Word Smart, but at a kids level. Something that says the word and then gives it's meaning and discusses it for a little mneumonic help. On CD, so we can play it daily and not make another "lesson" out of it. I agree about Beatrix Potter, though. The Tale of Peter Rabbit is one of my favorites just because of the language used.
