  1. I keep pens, pencils, colored pencils, scissors, glue, and markers in a utensil caddy that has 6 compartments. Something similar to this...

It's small enough to where it doesn't get too messed up and it's portable.

I keep a larger bin of crayons, large enough to fit several boxes worth. Before we start each school year, I go through and get rid of broken crayons or ones that have been heavily used. During "back-to-school" sales, I stock up on new boxes of crayons.

I also keep a bin for construction paper and bin for paper scraps.

  2. We love Mystery Science too!  :001_wub:

We've used it all of this year and plan on continuing until we run out of mysteries. I recently contacted them and they're planning on adding 20-30 mysteries this year, which is really exciting. (I believe you have to purchase a membership to see the new mysteries.)

  3. About two years ago we had to put our dog down because of cancer. The tumor was in her nose, and there was nothing we could do for her except make her comfortable. Towards the end, all she would do was lay around. She wouldn't even lift her head when we walked by her. She was just exhausted and really uncomfortable. It was an extremely difficult decision to make, but we couldn't let her suffer any longer. I would have preferred for her to pass away at home because she hated the vet's office...I prayed every night for her to pass peacefully in our home. Unfortunately, it didn't happen that way. We did give her tranquilizers before we took her into the office, so she was really out of it by the time we got there (something to consider if you have to take him in).

It sounds like your dog isn't at that point yet, since he's still getting excited over things.

I hope he's feeling better today. :grouphug:

  4. I'm currently using Book 1 of Fix-It Grammar with my 3rd grade DD. Things are going well and we really like it. I'm trying to determine if I should do Book 2 in 4th grade, or do something else and then go back to Book 2 in 5th grade. Per the IEW pathway, the grammar is not done every year, so I was curious what others have done.

Thoughts? If you used something else in between Fix-It books, what did you use?

  5. My 1st grade DD is working through MM1 now. My goal is to have her do about 2 pages each day, but that doesn't always happen. It depends on what's being taught and how well she understands it. Some things she moves through quickly, others we have to go slower. Also, as others have mentioned, I don't make her do every problem on the page (except for word problems). I'll have her do about half, and if she gets them correct, we move on. If she gets any incorrect, I have her do a few more until she understands the concept.

  6. Our dog hates his nails clipped too. He even knows what the clippers look like, so just the sight of them bothers him.

Last year we took him to a dog trainer, and she noticed how long his nails were. We explained that we hadn't been able to trim them because he hates it so much. She said, "Don't worry, we have the technology here." At first I thought it was going to be some super fancy tool that I'd never seen before, but it ended up being a small table, with some doggy steps attached. The idea is to elevate them on a small space, so they can't easily run away and don't really have much room to wiggle. And it worked! He let her clip his nails. He wasn't happy about it, but he didn't have anywhere to go.

Now, at home, we do this on the tailgate on my truck. DH lifts him up, I hold onto him with the leash, and then DH clips his nails. It has worked every time.

    Good luck!

  7. Is there a way to split the toilet/tub from the sinks without making it two separate rooms? Our bathroom upstairs has two sinks in one part of the bathroom, and the tub/toilet in another, but we have a pocket door separating the two areas. This allows the sinks to be used even if someone is showering or going to the bathroom. I might be misunderstanding how you're splitting the upstairs bathroom, but I thought I'd throw the pocket door idea out there.

In regards to the bathtub vs. shower, I'd prefer a bathtub/shower combo. It sounds like the layout is more of a family style, so three bedrooms upstairs will most likely be used for kids. I prefer not to have to lug kid stuff up and down the stairs as much as possible, but that's just my personal preference. 😊

Hopefully your realtor can give you some good advice. Good luck!

Yes, submitted and accepted late last week.

    Return or owe?

We're getting a decent size return. We've tried making adjustments to lower our return, but nothing has significantly helped.

What are your plans with your return if you got one?

         Pay off my truck!!

Less than $100 per month for food and treats, plus yearly vet stuff and heartworm pills.

How often do you leave them to travel?   Or do you travel with your dog?

We have never left him before, but are planning a trip this summer. I'd like to take him with us, but he's a big dog who needs lots of exercise, so we'll probably board him.

They're lots of fun and provide unconditional love and companionship.
