  1. A few restaurants:

La Fogata (they have awesome margaritas)

    The Guenther House (for breakfast)

Agreeing with others that Fredericksburg and Gruene are fun places to visit. I've not been to the River Grill in Gruene, but the Gristmill is really good.

For hiking, Guadalupe River State Park.

    Have fun on your trip!

  2. I don't have a watch yet, but both DH and I have been considering getting one. My understanding is that the biggest change from the 2 to the 3 is the capability to have internet connection without having to have your phone with you. You can purchase the 3 without the cellular capability for $329, but if you want cellular it's $399 plus a monthly fee. So, it'll just depend on how important you think that cellular capability is.

Here are a few articles I found that compare the two models:

    Good luck!

  3. I order stuff from Amazon all the time and I can't remember the last time I received something that wasn't in a brown box, until yesterday. A toy I ordered for DD for Christmas wasn't in a brown box at all...it was just the box the toy came in, as if I'd just pulled it off the shelf at the store! Thank goodness the girls and I weren't home and DH was able to scoop it up and hide it.

We've received the brown packing boxes with a description of the item on the side before, but never the actual toy box with a shipping label slapped on.  :glare:

  4. A similar thing happened to me once at JCPenney's. I wanted to purchase a jacket that was cheaper online (I can't remember by how much, but maybe $10-$15), and they would not price match in the store. The manager told me that the online store is basically viewed as a different store, so that's why they can't price match. The B&M store says JCP and the online store says JCP, so I don't understand the logic. It's so stupid!  :cursing:

  5. Vera Bradley has a good selection of crossbody bags. The "hipster" would hold all of the items you mentioned, plus a paperback book (not sure about the water bottle you mentioned). The good thing about Vera Bradley bags is that they have lots of pockets.

If you're not picky about patterns, you can find good deals on eBay. Also, if you have an outlet store near you, they often run sales where the entire store is 50% off (plus an extra 20% off).

  6. We're currently working through it. Any specific questions about it?

We are working through it also. First time in 12 years of homeschooling that my kids are actually "getting it" and they actually like doing grammar!

We are also working through it. We have enjoyed everything we've done so far, though we've had to do some tweaking to make it fit us. (For example, I have not printed anything except consumable sheets. I view the manual on my iPad and stream the student book from my computer to our tv.)

My girls (who are animal lovers) think Beowulf is hilariously awesome.

We have just started it, too. It has been a hit, even though we are speeding through the obligatory "Noun" chapter. Because, you know, we have been through 3 different LA curriculum, so dd is pretty clear that a noun is a person, place, or thing. *However* - Beowulf's Grammar thoroughly demonstrates nouns-as-ideas. When I was a kid, they always and only used "democracy" as the example of an "idea noun", leading me to think that only ideologies could be that kind of noun. BG uses examples that kids are able to relate much better to. So far, it is an excellent program and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

I'm not the OP, but I had a few questions for those of you who are using the curriculum...

Is it designed to be covered during one school year, or multiple years?

About how long each day do you spend on a lesson?

Also, can it be used with multiple grade levels?

    Thanks!
