  1. Thank you!! I was thinking that was MAYBE it, but it was hard to piece together. I figured, I might as well just ask. :) Thanks again!
  2. I have been trying to find out what the acronym CC stands for when people include it in their post title and I feel like I have exhasuted all of my searching and trying to look at what each of the posts have in common to come up with the answer! I know it isn't credit card in the majority of the cases, though sometimes it is. Can someone please clue in a clueless newbie?
  3. We just started using History with Little Pilgrams last week and have found that it is more of a Biblical History program than it is an American or World History program. I am a bit disappointed by it in that it will not be my source of history and social studies, it is instead serving as our Bible study book. I am back on the search for a good history/social studies book.
  4. I have walked on my toes from when I started walking until I was 10 years old. My parents pointed it out to me and I made the conscious decision to stop doing it. As an aside, I did the same thing with a speech impediment. No amount of speech therapy fixed it. It took me being tired of it, sitting at home with a mirror and a tape recorder at the age of 13 and fixing it on my own. My husband also walked on his toes for the majority of his pre-teen years. As adults, we are both well adjusted individuals with advanced degrees and soon to be MD. My 3 year old AND 2 year old walk o
  5. My 2 year old and 3 year old LOVE to watch Brainy Baby ABCs. They have learned their letter sounds from this movie and they love it so much.
  6. This is so interesting! It is difficult to determine, in my mind, when this makes sense and when it doesn't. For example, my oldest child, who will be 4 in August, is very much into asking why things happen and providing alternative solutions. Like, why can't Clara take the trip back to see Heidi (from our night time family readings)..she can just take a train and she won't be as tired. Then she can go see Heidi and no one will be sad. She is a bit advanced but I know she is not emotionally advanced to be a logic learner before we have even really started school! I suppose in instan
  7. My 3 year old, come 4 year old this August was so excited when our package arrived with our first ever home school materials, so we decided to start a few months early. We are doing Little Hearts for His Glory and so far she loves loves loves it. The history portion (Little Pilgrams book) is a bit much for a 3 year old to understand, so we mostly discuss what it says instead of me just reading it aloud to her. She loves verse memorization (who knew!) and the hands on math applications. The hands on science sections are also a huge hit. Overall it is awesome and she loves it to bits. Just
  8. Oh fun!!! And congratulations to her!!! I am guessing that she will not want an annual pass unless they are planning on being there longer than 10 days, at which point it makes more sense to get an annual pass. If it turns out that is what they want, let me know! I would have happy to send it off to her. :)
  9. Hi everyone! I am mostly a lurker on these boards as I prepare to begin homeschooling my 2 and almost 4 year old. We actually just started part of the HOD program for my near 4 year old this morning--what fun! Anyway, my husband and I hold annual passes to Disney World and we have received 4 discount cards that we can pass along to others offering a 10% discount off of the purchase of an annual pass. Each card gives 10% off of up to 6 passes. There are two catches--the disclaimer says the tickets must be purchased at the theme parks themselves (no travel agencies) AND purchases must
  10. Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences! The Heart of Dakota programs look really great because they seem to be a bit more flexible with what your child is able to do/not do (substitute in other activities, etc). We are going to keep wading through materials and I will let you guys know what we end up doing! Thanks!! Heidi
  11. Hi everyone! I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old who are quite interestd in starting to do some school at home. My husband and I have spoken quite a bit about doing homeschool for the kids in a few years and have focused on curriculum for them then, but I am not quite sure about a good, Bible based preschool curriculum. I have found both Hands on Homeschooling and Heart of Dakota and they both seem great, though I haven't seen many reviews on these at all. Any experiences or recommendations? Thanks! Heidi
