No, but I will give away curriculum to someone that wants it and needs it when I am done with it. If she said that she didn't care if you sold it, then I would probably sell it, and buy curriculum that you need.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everybody. I have tried workbooks and manipulatives with all 3 boys for the last 2 years, and have decided that we need the structure of a program.
Chris your suggestions on how to combine the 2 boys sounds like it might work.

I just changed my signature. If I use Saxon, it will be at their grade levels. My youngest will turn 6 in the fall, and my middle son has poor fine motor skills, and needs a lot of help with writing. I do like the idea of combing the 2 meetings. I am still concerned about the time it will take. My oldest still needs a lot of help in most of his subjects.
What was it about the number line in Horizons that you didn't like?

Help! I was going to use Saxon 1 and 2 for my younger boys this fall, but now I am not sure. They need to be in different levels, but I am a little worried about how much time that is going to take. I have been using manipulatives and workbooks from the store until now. I used K-2 with my oldest, and still have the teachers manuals. A friend suggested Horizons, saying that it would take a lot less time, but still uses a similar approach. I am willing to switch if that is true. What do you think?

I just wanted to give you a :grouphug: to encourage you. You are doing a great job. This board has a lot of wonderful and supportive people, and they have already given you some great advice. Also, as someone else has said, the special needs board is very helpful.

:grouphug:I am sorry for your loss. It is definately different to lose a parent. I felt the same when my dad passed away 10 years ago. I am sorry that you are so far away from your mom at this time. Also, I hope your cold gets better soon.

My mom has been diagnosed with R.A. for about 5 years now. She has found that it helps if she takes it easy on the days that she takes her Methotextrate (sp?). She also has learned to pace herself on the other days. She has found that fatigue is almost worse than joint pain. Her worst days are when the humidity is high. My mom doesn't really follow a diet. HTH.

I also would as much as you can orally. My oldest broke his left arm 2 weeks into first grade. Even though he is right-handed, it was difficult for him to sit at a desk or table for long periods. We did a lot of reading on the couch during those long 7 weeks.

Thanks!

I am using OPGTR with my ds7 and ds5. I spend about 10-15 minutes with each one, while ds9 reads to the other. I used it with my oldest, and it is working well with the other two.

No it is not possible. My worst offender likes to hum while doing his math because it helps him concentrate, and not hear anyone else.

Scotch tape.

Happy Anniversary!

What a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Get both levels at once. Like several others have mentioned, this way you will save on shipping. I bought level 1 for my oldest in August. He finished it by Thanksgiving, and finished level 2 before Christmas, and will be starting level 3 tomorrow. I bought each level separately, and wish that I would have bought them all at the same time. I started ds 7 on level 1 yesterday he is already on step 6.

I bought 2 student sets this fall, and now I wish that I would have only used one set and a spread sheet like someone else suggested. It turned out that my younger two weren't ready for it, and my oldest zipped through it very quickly. He will probably be finished with the 2nd book before Christmas.

What a wonderful experience! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

My oldest prefers to read along when he listens to an audio book. He sounds about the same age and reading level as your son.

I have it, but we don't really need it right now. My ds is fairly independent with his cursive. I will keep it in case my other two need more guidance. My younger two have different learning styles than him.

We have only done the first 8 lessons so far, but my boys really love it.
We also do the suggested activities. My 3rd grader is a music lover, and wants to learn how to play as many instruments as he can.
