My son watches "Lab Rats" and "Phineas and Ferb"
-
There is so much sadistic gratuitous violence in those books that I'm not sure it was age appropriate for me and I'm 40.
-
I found it amusing except for the scene with the lizard. I couldn't get over the cruelty of having a pet and letting it starve/dehydrate to death.
Don't even get me started on the housekeeper/nanny. I felt so terrible for her.

My local library allows me to check out e-books (formatted for Kindle) online. I just select the book on the library website and the link takes me to Amazon.com where I transfer it to my Kindle. You can also check out current books on your Kindle from the lending library. There are also book swap sites that allow lending between Kindles.

Thank you ladies. I will send you both a message soon :)

My son loves writing to other little boys and exchanging drawings. We haven't had the best of luck with pen pals so far but we're ready to try again in time for the new year:)
He plays piano and likes geography, construction vehicles, and LEGO sets. We live in the NW, so a penpal with similar interests from another part of the country would be great.
I figured the correspondence could start with postcard introductions and grow from there.
Let me know if you are interested.

OOoooooohhhh! Maybe I just didn't use ENOUGH febreeze. I did a light spritz, maybe what I need is a downpour. Did it damage the fabric at all to use so much?
Our car had dark brown fabric on the interior and the Febreeze didn't cause any staining. Maybe you could drench a small section as a test patch? I should also add that the weather was pretty warm when we did this so it didn't take very long for the seats to dry.
-
My husband and I bought a cheap used car when we moved to Europe for a couple years. It smelled like five people had been sitting in and chain smoking with the windows closed for five months straight.
The seats were fabric so I completely drenched them (and the ceiling and rugs) in two bottles of Febreeze and it worked perfectly.

And, since I'm complaining......what is up with Amazon's constant price changes?? It really gets annoying.
They lower prices on items when competitor websites put the items on sale and change them back when the sale ends.
-
I like Scholastic classroom magazines. You can order individual home subscription but the price is higher. If you are ordering multiple titles you might be able to haggle a lower price.

We don't really have a budget, it varies depending on what they are interested in.

Question:
How did your Elf arrive? Just show up one am?
Our did. A friend left it wrapped on my doorstep with a note addressed to my son.

We have one. A friend gave it to us last year. My then 5 year old loved it.
My husband and I would move it to a new location in the house every night and every morning my DS would go nuts looking for it. I was unpacking some Xmas stuff last night and found the box, so I put The Elf on top of the piano. When my son wandered past and saw it he started screaming "It's BACK! He's BAAAAACK!" It was kind of funny, I knew he liked it but I wasn't expecting such enthusiasm. After he calmed down,he said to me "Mommy, we are really going to have to start watching our behavior." I told him we could help each other.
Later he starting wondering aloud about the mechanics of the thing and decided that The Elf was in fact a robot camera that transmitted data to Santa.
I can see why some people find it creepy and to be honest, I never would have bought one myself but the kids really like it.

Oh my gosh, this was me and my 6 yo this morning doing a time telling exercise. I almost started pulling my hair out.
Also, the young man with the dark hair's skin was so smooth that I am seriously going to step away from the computer, go into my bathroom, and exfoliate right now.

I prefer Staub to Le Creuset (because of the lid handle design, basting spikes and the dark enamel finish on the inside) but they are both good.

We have both of them. The kids use the iPad more because it is larger and has a lot of their educational apps on it. I use the Kindle more when I am surfing online in bed or out of the house b/c it fits in my purse easier and has all of my books loaded on it.

Butter, salt and Tabasco sauce.

My son is addicted to Stack the States/Stack the Countries. He knows state capitals better than I do now.

I just looked on Amazon and there are also portable keyboards that you can plug into a laptop via USB.
-
Will you be going anywhere near a music store? When we went on vacation to another state this year, I looked online and found a small music store in a nearby town and arranged for my kid to practice there a few times a week.
You could also try to find a piano teacher in the area or buy a cheap keyboard w/ non weighted keys or a roll-up keyboard just to keep them on top of their fingering.

Thanks. I got them for my kids!
