It's straight drill practice, no teaching though the site will give an explanation if your child answers a question wrong. One thing I really don't like about it is that it will punish the student (by adding more questions) when he or she answers incorrectly. It really bugged my 6 y.o. to be 99% done with a problem set, answer something incorrectly, and get pushed back down to 80% done. I still have a subscription that we haven't used for months and when it runs out, I don't plan on subscribing again.

I don't know what to think after last night. I've been so mad at Andrea this season (well every season actually) but the look of happiness on her face when she reached the prison made me forgive her and then BOOM. There's a horrible scene that happens in the comics that I thought might not happen on the show but now I think it's on again and I'm scared to watch the last two episodes.

Last time we moved locally, there were 3 guys and they worked for about 6 hours. They took longer than expected but they stuck to the original low estimate and were extremely professional. I think we tipped $60. When we moved internationally several years back, the (2) movers took two days to pack our things and were the best movers I'd ever seen. They even wrapped the mattresses and couches so they wouldn't get dirty. The company paid for the move but we tipped $100.

Hmm, is yours the first or second generation Fire? Amazon just launched an app called "Freetime" that allows to to limit what your kids can use and read on the Kindle. They can't get out of the app without a password even if they turn the Kindle off. It works on 2nd generation and newer models only. For a extra monthly fee it also gives you access to a library kid's apps, books and videos and you can set it up to limit the amount of time the kid can spend using different things (mine is set to unlimited reading time but only 30 minutes for apps and videos.) Web browsing is automatically disabled on "Freetime" but I think there is a Khan Academy app for Android that you might be able to add into the list of apps that she could use on Freetime. I just started the free trial and so far I love it. My 3 year old had a talent for doing factory resets on my Kindle and now he can't do it anymore. Small victory!

I loved the first two seasons but S3 is dreadful.

I'm completely obsessed with my Fitbit. I reached 30K steps for the first time yesterday :) I watch my favorite shows while stepping. I can get a good 6K steps in while watching "Scandal" :)

I've always gotten my Prime items in 1 or 2 days. A couple of times I've even had it delivered the same day. I couldn't believe it the first time it happened. I ordered a scanner before breakfast and it was dropped off at my door after lunch by a man in a white van.

Thank you for this. I think I'll still chat with his teacher or school counselor about it but encouraging friendships with other kids was the route his father and I were planning on taking in the meantime. We also had a long talk tonight about the circle of friends and it seems pretty of clear who the ring leader of the negative behavior is so that helps too.

So my 6 y.o. has been complaining recently that his friends are being mean to him and saying mean things. This particular group of boys were in his K class and now they are all in 1st grade (though only one of them is his classmate.) They eat lunch together and play together at recess. All the boys have the exact same backgrounds meaning their parents are all from the same country, the boys are either only children (or only male children) and from what I have observed, are really really spoiled. I've been the the homes of two of the three kids during playdates and the boys are the type to completely lose composure if they don't get their way. I mean throwing themselves on the floor and screaming type behavior. Still my son likes them and since he hasn't picked up any of those behaviors, I just decided to ride out the friendships. Twice (during birthday parties) I've noticed that the other boys tend to gang up on my son, as in make comments like "WE like this and YOU don't!" or just refer to him in ways that seem exclusionary. Play dates are a little harder to schedule this year so I haven't really seen the other parents as much. I ask my son about how the comments make him feel and stress that friends are supposed to treat each other with respect but I'm a little :confused1: about what exactly to do other than stressing what good friendships look like and telling him that it's okay to stop playing with someone if they are acting mean. My husband and I were brainstorming about it and came up with planning play dates with other kids in that he likes or possibly talking to the school counselor for more ideas on how to go forward. I guess I'm just not sure at this point how much to intervene. Have any of you had a similar experience that you can share?

Montessori did not work at all for my son. I really liked the philosophy behind it but he really needed structure and his experience with a Montessori preschool was a complete disaster.
