  1. Hello all, I'm living abroad, and I have to get all my materials for the upcoming school year in advance. I'm having a hard time finding early readers for my son. I would love to hear recommendations on what to look into ordering for next year! My son is 4 now, and we are doing The Ordinary Parent's Guide To Teaching Reading. We're currently at lesson ~100. He's already gone through all the BOB books, and when I pulled out some other early readers I was surprised how quickly he went through them with only needing help on a word here or there. The readers he did are the "Watch Me Read - Invitations To LIteracy" series level 1.1. I just grabbed these at a used curriculum sale, and don't actually know much about the series. But basically he's currently doing short and long vowel words as well as some multi-syllable words. Anyway, I imagine by next school year, he'll be beyond the easy readers I have, and will need something more challenging. What should I look at for him? What is the next stage? Thanks in advance for any recommendations and tips!
  2. My son is 4, and still naps 1.5 hours. I actually wake him up after 1.5 hours, so he still naps well at night. We have followed the Babywise book methods for a child's sleep, and it has worked really well for us.
  3. loesje22000, are you aware of any homeschool support groups or extra activities? My oldest is 4, so I'm interested in more preK / K age group.
  4. I'm not optimistic of finding anyone, BUT.... we are currently in Milan, Italy and then moving at Antwerp, Belgium this summer. Anyone on this forum live in Belgium?
  5. Hi everyone. We are an expat family from the states, and currently living in Italy (will soon move elsewhere in Europe). I have two littles, and have started doing reading and math with my 4 year old. I have wanted to homeschool since my oldest was born, but I feel a bit isolated here in Italy. I'm so thankful for the technology that allows me to stay a bit more connected! As I research different curriculum for next year, I find many say they require "household items" as materials. For me, that's frustrating, because my experience tells me there is often something I would need to grab at Target or a similar store. Here, there is no craft store, Target, etc. It's literally impossible to find the craft supplies which are so common in the states. So at this stage, I think my biggest hurdle will be finding a way to gather the supplies I need (and knowing what those supplies are, when they aren't listed on the internet). But aside from that, I just want to say hello to everyone. Nice to "meet" all of you! Sarah
  6. We are currently using MUS Primer and I think we will stick with it until the start of next school year, at which point I want to try Singapore Essentials. I know there is overlap, but I am interested in using Singapore math in the future, so I figured it would be good to switch. I'm also planning to supplement with Life of Fred.
