  1. praying for your doggy. We found out that our dog had multiple seizures(beyond normal 1-2) during anesthesia when we got his teeth cleaned. Never again! Dogs are so special and I feel your pain.
  2. My son is slightly delayed, but he has the same problem and will be 5 next week. I would think drill with flashcards would be your best option. I haven't pushed it with him yet as we will be starting K next year. You could also maybe find a board game that deals with number recognition? Maybe Learning Resources has one? http://www.learningresources.com/category/parents/shop+by+theme/letters+-+numbers.do
  3. That is ridiculous! What double standards they have. So much for family friendly.
  4. FYI--Jon and Kate did not have in vitro. They were trying for just one more with fertility drugs. They are not asking for government assistance either. Totally different situation.
  5. The only thing I can applaud her for is not aborting. The babies are here now and there's not a thing that can be done. They need to be cared for, somehow. I hate to reward the mom in any way for this, but I'd hate to see these kids grow up to be on welfare, become criminals, etc because they were not taken care of. Can they be taken away? That would be hard too if they were separated. I don't know what the answer is. I just pray that they don't do a reality show and I hope that the mom does not become a tv childcare expert like she wants to be!!! She isn't going to have time to work, though. Oh the thought of here trying to feed all of those babies, give them and her other children individual attention... Ugh, I'm afraid their future is not very bright. She doesn't seem to have a lot of family, friends or church family to help her out(I missed the interview last night so correct me if I'm wrong). I'm praying for all of her children. Oh and her being single does make it worse for me, but in general, the whole situation is wrong.
  6. Don't expect more than 10-15 min. at this age. Don't push! I did this with disastrous results. I regret how we started our homeschool journey and I'm still trying to undo the damage with my 6 1/2 year old. Unless they have an extreme interest and want to keep going, I would limit it to a short 10 min. session for each subject, no longer than 20 min. straight with interest.
