When I address my father, I call him "Papa," which is what I've called him all my life. When speaking of him, I call him by his first name.
When I was little, I called my mother "Mama;" now my sibs and I call her "Mum."

"I know, right?" tops my list. I also dislike "man up" "git 'er done", and the local-to-me use "X needs done." For instance, "your shirt needs washed" or "my lawn needs mowed."

Audio books work best for me. Music puts me to sleep. Stories give me something to focus on. Get an exciting one that will keep your heart rate going. I also don't drink coffee ordinarily, so when I buy it for road trips it works well for keeping me up. Good luck!

Me too! As a kid I was absolutely convinced cats and dogs were the same species, just different genders. You could not convince me otherwise for years.

I loved Tennant, but I could.not.stand Rose. Liked Martha, enjoyed Donna, adored the Amy/Rory pair. I do truly like Smith, too. I'm willing to like Clara, but I don't think she's come into her own yet.

I recommended this in another thread, but Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast with a pretty irreverent though intelligent approach. I have learned a lot from it, and enjoy their banter, as they're longtime friends.

It's maybe a little embarrassing for me to admit this, but I find the Bene Gesserit mantra pretty helpful actually:

I had this issue twice, TWICE! this week with the same item. Amazon was able to get it straightened out for me, with refund and adjusted shipping costs. Contact amazon.
