  1. Hi all--It just occurred to me that I have to send a mid year transcript to D's first choice--not the common app report. I have no idea how to do this..she completed two classes (semester classes) so I know they get included in a gpa. Do her mid year grades for full year classes get included in her gpa? Also, since I only include full year grades on her transcript, how/where should the notation go that the grades for the full year classes aren't full year grades? Thank you!
  2. Late post on RPI. Skimming the messages I didn't see anyone post on how loooonnnnnnnngggg Upstate NY winters are. Fall is very short (don't blink) and winter comes and stays until April some years... It has snowed on Mother's Day. If anybody is serious about this school--I suggest a late winter visit. It is beautiful up there, but the gray skies and winter could be a bummer for some that aren't used to it. I agree about Troy being depressed. Albany is better, but RPI is in Troy.
  3. Hello all- D wants to apply to a school that has a later deadline. All of her apps are done except for one that is due Jan 15. I uploaded the transcript to the common app--obviously semester grades aren't complete. When she completes this RD app it may be the end of the semester and I can't change the transcript. Should I complete a mid year report? I don't like the idea of them getting the grades on separate forms but is this the only way to do this? Thank you so much!
  4. Regarding the housing. If you do send in a deposit to hold your housing and decide not to attend--some schools DO NOT refund your money. It's best to check with each school on their policy.
  5. On the student's application it asks if the student is enrolled in college (full time or part time). I am not sure how this should be completed if the she is enrolled in a college for dual credit. Any advice? Thank you.
  6. Hello All- I am almost done with my transcript--wow I should have started this sooner.D has high grades--even the ones given by other teachers. So technically her transcript shows all A+'s. She really did earn them--they are legit. I am just afraid it won't look that way even though many of the grades are given by a homeschool tutelage--but they do not give transcripts because they are not officially a school. I was going to include the percentage earned in the class and then an 'A+' but I am wondering if I should switch them all to A's. The 'A+'s are looking a bit much to me. Any thoughts? I should add that she does have test scores to back the grades up. The other issue is that her dual credit school only gives A's so when I send her transcript they will be A's. Since they are high school credit earned I have put them on her transcript but don't think I should use a 'A+' if they don't. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated!!!
  7. Oh I know it doesn't calculate into GPA. I just wanted to count the credit--since it is the credit that is required. I guess I can't...
  8. Thanks all. If I do decide to do a pass/fall grade how do I include credits. if I include a credit and not grade point it brings the gpa down. Is the pass a certain grade point? thank you!
  9. It is required for graduation but it just looks silly as a pass fail and I don't feel right giving it a "real" grade. Any suggestions? You all are awesome!
  10. The whole year? Just one course? Or a sampling of a couple of courses? Thanks! Have you had to do this?
  11. Do we know that this is actually true--that they unweight? I have heard that it's not true and that up against other kids it's best to compare and most schools weight. I'd appreciate any insight. I have had her transcript done for a LOOOONG time and she is ready to apply, but I am finding myself in this dilemma. Thank you.
  12. Hello again! D's transcript has been complete for awhile and now I am second guessing myself--should we weight grades or not? Thank you!
  13. Does anybody have a suggestion on how we do this or done it before? A few schools ask for "evidence of lab experience" with the application. thanks!
  14. I think this is a silly question--but on an application I have to fill out as a counselor, what is a 'term'? D's transcript only have final grades, so is a term the entire year or is a term a half of a year. So 6 terms have been completed for a current senior. thank you!
  15. @tibbie dunbar what's your number in Indiana so they CC can be updated? Thanks!
