  1. Hi, not to sound dumb but do you have the answers to these? thank you!
  2. Okay, so my daughter in 3rd grade got a P text leveling for reading, what does this really mean? I have searched the internet and came up with nothing really. If anyone is able to explain this to mean please do so. Thank you. Is this good or bad news? LOL!
  3. Hi everyone, Wondering how do you get your 8 year old to stay focus and remember what she learned. It's like if we don't review it everyday she won't remember. She sits there with her homework and finds excuses to go to the bathroom, sharpen a pencil, etc. I don't know how to get her to stay focus at school and at home. Her last year teacher has said the same thing that she doesn't stay focus in class, but when she does it's great. It takes us almost the whole day to get our studying done and it's only a 30 min. lesson. Also, she just wants to hurry up with the homework and be done with it so it's messy, etc. She hates studying!!!!!! She will also try to hurrying up in writing in school so she can be done and get to do some fun stuff. I have talked with the teacher and said that her handwriting is so much better and if the teacher sees it she is to redo it. It helped a little bit to talk to her teacher, but now she is going into 3rd grade and I don't know maybe I need to discuss it with the 3rd grade teacher too.
  4. My 3rd grader hates to write and I don't know how to get her to write. Her handwriting is really good when she wants it to be. I have tried different journals, etc. Even to correct a sentence she rather just use the symbols to correct the words then to write. Any ideas would be great!
  5. Thank you. I will have to check those out. I just want to make sure she completely understands what we are learning and it would be nice to have more practice with it. I appreciate your time and helping me out.
  6. We are in the second book and I feel like my daughter needs more practice with the exercises. Is there a good website to go to get more practice on grammer. We have been reading grammer land but I can't find any worksheets to go with it. My daughter is in 2nd grade.
  7. Are there any worksheets that you use wtih the First Laugauge Lesson book. I feel like my daughter needs more practice. She is 7

It repeats so many times. Don't you think she'll have it by the end? Have you seen Brian P Cleary's grammar books? Library might have them.

  8. So the tip in AAS 1 says if you hear a new syllable when the word is made plural, use es to form the plural. Then they gave an example glass is made plural, we hear a second syllable: glass/es. That is a clue that the plural is formed by adding es. I think I will use x/s/z/ch/sh rule to teach her.
  9. In the AAS level 2 if the word is a 2 syllable word you use es, there is a word napkins on page 34 why wouldn't this be a es because it's a 2 syllable word right?
  10. Thank you Amateur Bee Keeper, I love your ideas on your site. I think I can use some of these ideas too for my 3 yr old.
  11. Sorry, my daughter is 7 years old and is in 2nd grade
  12. Hi everyone, My DD hates doing English she says it's so boring. We are doing the FLL, WWE, and handwriting exercises. I don't know how to make it fun for her. Also, she is having problems writing her G's they look like 6's. Any tricks I can teach her on that. I told her to make a fat C and then your line across. Thank you. She is 7 years old
  13. Wow! What a great response to my question. Thank you everyone. I think I have some thinking to do.
  14. Thanks everyone. My DD was in the 195's and they showed it in color too, which was nice. I believe she is on the right track.
  15. Does anyone know what the scores mean? My daughter saw a score on top when she was done but I don't know what that means. Is there a website that can explain this to me or do I need to wait to see it come in the mail. I just hate the wait. LOL!
  16. Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I can't wait to use some of your ideas.
  17. My 7 year. DD is doing WWE and also practicing handwriting in general. My problem is that we have been doing this over a year now and she does really good at home but when she brings her homework home and journal home from school you wouldn't think she practices handwriting at all. There is spacing, no capital letters at the beginning of a sentence it's awful. I just don't know what to do. Keep working on WWE and our general handwriting? She does handwriting almost everyday for like 20 minutes at home. any suggestions? Thank you
  18. I have a 2 year old daughter and wondering what I should be doing now to start her education. I know we should work on ABC's, numbers, colors, etc. but does anyone have any ideas on how to start this and what books are out there to help her. She does have a delay in speech so my focus was to work on that before working on the ABC's etc. Any ideas would be great. Thank you
  19. That is what we are doing too and we added the AAS 1, but I am wondering if we should add more of a language art grammer book and social studies. Like today with everything it took us hour and half to complete everything. I also have a 2 yr that distracts us and I try to keep her busy as well. Trying to multitask. LOL. With 3rd grade coming up I don't know if I should be doing more. the spelling words that they give her in public school are like the CVC words and she knows how to spell them. They are so easy for her.
  20. I would like to know what everyone is doing for their studies after public school is done?
  21. OMG! This was so awesome! Thank you so much. I am wondering if there are answers to these questions on the free ones, just printed off the spelling.
  22. I was wondering if anyone has used the language art books by Macmillan/McGraw for education at home. I have a 7 year old and was wondering if this would be a good option to do with her. I am doing the AAS, FLL and Math at home. I would like something to help her with the language grammer part of it. Please tell me what are thoughts are about these books before I purchase one. Also, there is a book on how to teach spelling to your kids and I was thinking about purchasing that as well, but didn't know if it would be any help with the AAS book that we are using now. She's on the first book since I just started this.
  23. Yes, I purchased the whole kit for AAS, and I should mention that I also first started out with the All About Reading first. I am super excited about this forum and I am hoping to learn a lot in the future.
