  1. In our house, we have: - 3 Different Kindle E-Readers - 1 Kindle Fire HD 8.9" w/ Cellular and no ads - 1 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" - 3 Different Samsung Android Phones, including 1 recent nexus. In general, there is no perfect device. The smaller kindle e-readers are a must for when the kids are doing extensive read-on-their-own time. The fire is a must as general media consumption and educational video device plus textbook viewer/highlighter. The network and video performance of the device is amazing. The galaxy tab just sucks and we wish we didn't buy it, along with most of the the android phones. The latest samsung galaxy nexus cell phone we have is still quite good, but I find myself using it for only three things: - Quick phone conversations when away from home - Constant texting to friends/etc (the screen typing is horribly annoying) - Access to other android apps that are not posted on the Amazon store or to just see which apps are out there which Amazon doesn't publicize... normally, I get the app onto my fire via other methods. We'll probably buy additional fires and stay away from the Nexus devices going forward. The amazon content for learning and entertainment is just too compelling to stay with stock android. Our kids have access to their own laptops for any intensive work that requires more than the fire can offer.
