  1. I just got a Rat Zapper. . . don't know if it works yet. I also have poison that is in the black containers that is too small for pets to fit (unless your dog eats through plastic). Barb
  2. Got and love it! So easy to use. So far I have a typing app, "clue finders 4th grade", times table warp; all as summer review. Then amazing earth 3d wild animals for fun. I will look for more summer type apps today! Of course I have the word ones we will play around with this summer so he really knows how to use them by the time school starts again. Barb
  3. Great responses! Well, for timeline I saw "easy timeline" - awesome looking pictures. I know there is the iPad - and we do have one - but it gets full quick. So we need a desktop. Our current desktop is a pc and (no tomato throwing please) I HATE PC'S. I also think it is a bit easier to write, do projects . . . on a bigger screen then the iPad. I plan to have a study type app that has each of his classes in it - a place to write notes, assignments, flash cards. . . He hates to hand write things and the bigger screen of an iMac is a bit easier. I actually have browsing completely off on the iPad (through Mobicip). Too easy for kids to be off and browsing the internet when I don't want. With a iMac I will get net nanny (in addition to the parental controls) and it is out in the open - so no possibility of sneaking on to the internet when I don't want. I also think researching to create a cool project (like a brochure) is also a bit user friendly on iMac. Barb
  4. I am getting the lowest price iMac today. I do have a macbook pro and ipads so Apple is not new to me. Anyway I am looking forward to mainly my ds age 10 using it for school. I am thinking it will be sooooo much easier then our current pc he gets to use. I want him to do timelines (way too cool timelines some apps make!), outline chapters a bit, flashcards, make brochures/posters/ flyers/presentation. . . for various subjects. And also numbers seems a bit easier to get the hang of then excel! In all, I think organizing school work, and creating fun, educational projects will be awesome to do on an iMac. Not to mention - the thousands of apps! If your kids use an iMac (of macbook air/pro) for school how do they use it - how do they utilize the endless possibilities - because I don't want to miss any cool ideas I haven't thought of! Apps you all love? I thought now would be a good time to get one, as in the summer he can get used to it and even make a few brochures on his favorite subject (animals!). Thanks! Barb
