    Happy at Home!
  1. I am laughing so hard with y'all! I share the same sentiments. I love the looks of all their stuff. I am currently using the FSR and loooove it! Everything is written so clearly. I've told myself I'm going with all memoria press next year! We'll see.
  2. Don't get me started looking at math too, I'm just trying to stick with MUS right now:) Of course I'm always wondering if it's enough or if I'm doing the right thing!!! But now I might take a peek. Thank you!
  3. I see you like memoria press, I like their stuff too. Very clear and easy to follow. Thanks for the break down. So you would not recommend FLL as sole Grammar program? If you could supplement with just one other book, what would it be? Too many supplements overwhelm me and then I won't do anything.
  4. I was just going with the WTM recommendations. I looked at CLE just now, and I like that they combine spelling, english and handwriting! The website said their 3rd grade LA would be available summer 2014. So, I guess they are updating it. But thanks for the suggestion. I was ready to order FLL 3 but I'll give CLE a look. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for all your input! I can scratch Shurley off the list and move on.
  6. Thanks for that information. The fact that R&S is waaaay more affordable helps things a bit too:)
  7. Thanks for that. I've hear either people love Shurley or hate it. I like things pretty straight forward and from the looks of R&S, it looks doable for me. That's why I also like FLL, it's open and go and pretty quick to do. When we were doing grammar this year with BJ, I kept referring back to what we had memorized in FLL.
  8. Thanks for your input, I agree with you there. We are familiar with FLL, so that might be the way to go. Tackling a whole new system is overwhelming for me.
  9. I need some input on which grammar would be best suited for my 3rd grade ds. 1st grade was FLL, 2nd grade BJ press, 3rd grade - I want to go back to either FLL, or start R& S, since that is recommended in WTM. However, I have a couple of friends who love Shurley English and it's highly recommended in Veritas press. So, I'm not sure what to pick and would love some helpful advice on which is best to choose for my family. I'm a mother of 4 soon to 5 in July. My ds is my oldest at 8 and I'm concerned that Shurley might be too involved for me. I liked FLL for the ease of use and scriptedness. Would it be okay to jump right in to FLL3 with having skipped FLL2? I really don't want to spend more than 20 - 30 mi on grammar since I have others who need my attention. I was just looking for some suggestions. Thanks so much!!
  10. I appreciate your input. I would hate to buy the package and not use half of it! So, with that said, and other comments into condsideration, I will not jump in at the middle ages with MFW. I need to keep it simple right now. SOTW is a good go-to. SWB is so good at keeping things simple and orderly. I appreciate her books. Thanks!
  11. I already have the adventures guide and I feel it is very light and slightly cheesy on the Bible end. However, my ds will be 3rd grade if he does this. It uses the history book we will have in our CLP curriculum which they have as their 3rd grade history book. Thanks for your help!
  12. I really appreciate your advice! the reason I was interested in MFW is because I already have a lot of the reading materials used in MfW. Streams, kingfisher, journey through the Bible, Tirzah.. anyway I thought it would be nice to follow mfw schedule for middle ages. We have been used VP OT/AE cards this year. However, taking into consideration what you have said, mfw may be too much for my ds who will be 3rd grade. I do really like SOTW and how easy it is to follow. I am looking for a more complete program, one that includes a schedule, read alouds, bible, history, geography. So, if I started with mfw I would have to start with ADV and just stop everything we've already done just to redo it in a couple of years. I also have 4 littles I have to consider in the future. VP does Greece and history of rome next year and I'm sooo ready to move to American history but I feel we need to do middle ages first. He wouldn't do any american history till 5th grade with VP. So, I feel I need to jump ship from them. anyway, I confused as to what we should do. Thanks for your help!
  13. For next year I'm considering MFW for my ds 7. We've been following the classical cycle of Ancients and I want to continue with the mideval period. I really like the looks of MFW and don't want to stop everything and do adventures then ecc then ancients again. I want to just jump right in to the mideval period since that flows with what we are doing. He's advanced and I am confident he could handle it. But I would like input from MFW users. Suggestions???

  15. I believe that MFW uses this book in their 2nd grade Adventures. You might find some good reader ideas if you look at their site.
