  1. When I talked to the rep on the phone she also said the option to choose snacks was forthcoming. They are also working on improving the website. They are a start up company less than one year old. They were very responsive on the phone. Maybe you should give them a call about processing and the proximity to nuts.

  2. We subscribe. The packages are small but that helps because they are an appropriately sized snack. They are expensive but they are also good quality food. I got the subscription for my partner for Valentine's Day (She has a lot of food sensitivities). It arrives at her office the middle of each month. It has been great.

  3. Leave the house (take the kids with you). Take a walk at the y or the mall. Go to a kids museum or the library. It may feel overwhelming getting out the door but it can really help your perspective and mood. If you need to put off your typical hs curric. right now you can catch up later. Snuggle and read books together. Get some science or history dvd from the library. Rent some audiobooks from the library so the third grader can listen alone to information. Get your 3rd grader some wkbks that can be done independently(Kumon, Math Mammoth). Take time for the family to gel. It will all work out.

  4. For apps I agree with Dragon Dictate. I also like Netflix and Google Earth. It's not an app but I would suggest apple tv. It mirrors your ipad onto the tv wirelessly. This is great for showing educational clips. Then you don't have to be huddled around the ipad to watch. Also it is a good way to be more aware of what your dc is doing online. It is hard to see what dc has up on the screen but it becomes obvious when it is on the tv.

  5. I've not yet gone to a hs conference but was thinking of trying ours this year. It is in May. I'm a little concerned about how christian it will be. It's a state-wide conference, but locally it is so christian that I'm preparing myself. However I hope to be surprised and meet at least one crunchy granola friend. I'm not very social IRL but thought I would try. If nothing else it's an excuse to buy more books and curriculum!

  6. Yes, we both work full time jobs. We have flexible schedules at work but mostly keep consistent hours, opposite from one another. This allows us to be home with the kids. We do not see each other much and the house is a mess. The kids are clean, well fed, loved, and educated. We hs every day and all year. My partner teaches them and gets them breakfast between 5am and 8 am. I teach them from 8-11:30. Then its lunch, quiet time, snack, play time or sports, dinner, play time or sports, video during nebulizer treatments (3 kids have asthma) and bed. We are hoping to get someone in to clean but we are going to have some home remodeling done this spring and are waiting until after that is done. We don't have any family in the state. We have a person that can come in for some hours with the kids if needed. Usually, if we do that, she runs the kids to their sports. I love our life. I wish we had time together and I wish the house were clean. I worry that if something changes with either of our jobs we would no longer be able to hs. That would crush me. I'm certain the two oldest would be thrilled to go to brick and mortar school (they say this a lot) but I don't think they would thrive there. Our kids are adopted and we spend a lot of time working on attachment. It would be bad for our entire family if they had to go to brick and mortar school.
