My son wants to be an engineer and has no interest in Biology and Disection. He is doing Apologia Physical science this year. Then what I wanted to do is do the Biology 101 DVDs and the Human Body DVDs. After that move onto Chemistry and Physics. Can I do that?

I know it's not a dairy allergy. We only drink Almond. I use spelt 95% of the time. I don't use eggs I use flax. So I have the main foods covered. He has had this for years. He has had his tonsils and adnoids removed when they put tubes in his ears. They did blood work and testing on his arms. I look at him and know something is wrong. I wish it was written across his head.

My son is 6 years old. His eyes have dark circles underneath and sunken in. We have been to the Drs and the ENT. The ENT did a full alergy screening and it came up nothing. He gets at least 10 hrs of sleep a night and is very active( His speech therapist thinks he might have ADHD) The kid always looks pale with his eyes sunken in sickly and all the Drs say, "IDK!" Anybody ever have something kinda like this or have a guess what it might be?

How do you schedule TT for a lare family, daily? How much time should I plan for kids? Alg1,TT6,4,and 3.

I can't find a math I like. My oldest LOVES Saxon and it works great with him. But my other kids cry and struggle and it doesn't work with them.I tried MM and it isn't for us.I need to find something and stick with it. I need something K-5 right now. We like the looks of BJU and TT. But with TT, I'm afraid my kids will behind. And BJU seems Teacher intensive. I don't mind teaching some but with 10 kids in school this year I can't devote a lot of time. Can some one help? My brain is fried looking for one. I'm open to anything.

I'm looking for a grammar program for my kids. How do you do grammar with your large family? What program seems to work the best? Do you teach grammar to each child? Thanks Erika

Did you do math u see all the way through HS and your child do fine in College? I like the program and deep down I'm scared its not enough.

How do you teach reading with older kids ? Not phonics. My 5th grader struggles and isn't fluent. I think she doesn't read much because she isn't fluent and doesn't comprehend much. How do I teach that? Also how do you teach vocabulary in reading? Is there benefits in reading curriculum?

I am homeschooling 10 of my 12 children and my schedule is swamped.Trying to do it all is hard. My dh has offered to teach some subjects math and science. I have to admit I'm kinda scared! I drill my kids hard in math compaired to him. I make sure they can say them in their sleep and he is more like they know them well enough type. I hate teaching science so that won't be that big of a deal except I will have to make sure they know it. I'm more scared He won't teach them "GOOD ENOUGH". Has anyone let their spouse take over subjects? How do you relax and let them teach their way?

Your right. I'm not tech savvy! I was 17 yrs ago but computers kinda changed. I want to get a device for Christmas and play around with it before buying curriculum. I don't plan on buying curriculum til spring. I just wanted to try to get some on a Nook or tablet. We go to speech 2x aweek for 4hrs. I was reading the downloading MM thread and a lady mentioned her child does it right on the tablet. That would be nice because I wont have to grab the bag of books all the time.

I haven't bought one yet. I know I don't want an Ipad. ( I HATE APPLE) Any ideas on good ones? I was looking at Nook HD or Kindle fire HD.

What do you download your ebooks on? I WOULD LIke to get some TE and some workbooks on EBOOKs. I have no idea what to look for. I have no idea memory size. I would like to download apps like kindle or B&N. I Would like a camera and watch videos. How many kids can do their work on ebook workbook like example FLL? Can you have the TE and the student text open together? I"M not sure if I would want something like the IPAD. ( I HATE Apple) Would a KINDLe fire HD or Barnes and Noble NOOK HD WORK?

I WAS looking at al the different types of Homeschooling methods and I can't say I am a type. My friend says Everyone has a type. But I don't see it. MY Home I like STRong math,Grammar/writing, Spelling, Handwriting.(MUS,Practical arithmetic,Hake,IEW,Spelling workout,Italics) But for history and science We just pick a time period we are interested in. We love the literature type. Most of the time they just read the book and most of the time they don't even do a narration. Sometimes we'll ask what the book is about. But we will do hands on activities with the books, example if they cook a dish we will etc. I do some WTM with the grammar and language arts. But mostly I'm a free bird Type. Which she says is not a type. AM I A TYPE? :bored:

I"m writing my own history curriculum for next year. I'm tired of buying overpriced packages and not liking the books or the activities. I'm doing MOH V1 and we are liking it. BUt we are mostly just listening to the CDs so I'm not sure if I want to buy the book. What are some good spines for that time period? (AD 30 - 1456) or other books your family have really enjoyed? cds?

Thanks, everyone. I'm giving Atkins a try. Today is my 1st day and so far so good. I told everyone I could lose 40 lbs by Christmas. So far I am down 8 with out diet and exercise. So I started Atkins and TURbo FIre. I might not make it to 40lbs but I will give my all trying. In total I want to lose 90lbs.
