  1. We have an interesting system that my mother developed as we all live together during the summer months. If the dishes are clean the soap dispenser is empty and if they are dirty the soap dispenser is filled and closed. That means, that right after emptying the dishwasher, you refill the soap dispenser. It took some getting used to but even my 7 year old can tell if the dishes are clean or dirty.

  2. I had just told a girl on SL that I liked the format of WTM - at least the threads stay in the same order, so you can sort of remember how/where each topic was in relation to the others.

You can make you theads stay in the same order, it just isn't permanent. When you first enter the General Board, for example, go down the the very bottem of the first page and change the sorting to when the thread posted. Push the thread butten and voila the threads are in original posting order not the most recent thread and they stay in order while you are on that board. If you switch boards or leave, you have to redo the sorting order. I'm not using the exact terms as I can't remember them. I hope that this helps!

  3. I remember a news show once that was talking about frugality. There was one guy on there who was the frugalist (is that a word :p ) person I've ever heard of. He would go to a fast food place and take pockets full of ketchup, salt and pepper packets. He would take the ketchup packets and squeeze them into his bottle of ketchup at home. Same with the salt and pepper (well, in the salt and pepper shakers!)

To me this isn't frugal, it is theft. The restaurants provide enough condiments for you to eat your meal not for you to stock your pantry. I don't think "frugal" is a bad word and shouldn't be confused with what some of the other ladies mentioned ie selfish, inconsiderate, and theft.

  4. The house seems HUGE. I wonder how much the taxes will be for something like that and if that will become a burden. The barn looked very nice.

I guess for me I would have loved a much smaller house that was as well thought out and then the barn.

We were wondering the same thing as we watched the show. The house is beautiful but we wondered if it would have been better in the long run to build a smaller but equally nice house. I'm also afraid for them that the cost of heating will be too much. Those 18 foot ceilings were awe inspiring but the heat will just rise up and up in that family room. I'm sure the $50,000 fund to run the house will help for a while.

  5. To keep the board from moving around and driving you crazy, you change the options down at the very bottom of the main board page. For example, I changed the sorting option from "The last post" to "Thread start time". The wording may not be exact as I'm typing from memory. The board does not save this change though so you may have to re-sort it as you go from board to board. I hope that this helps. I do wish that the change could be saved but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

  6. I'm voting for option number 2. I'd love to be able to push my 3 boys outside to go play in the woods. They would have lots of fun inventing stories and battles. Plus I'm a bit lazy and would rather clean a smaller house. Do you love this house even though it has some things to be fixed? I also like the idea of making a house mine rather than using what someone else has chosen.
