  1. What grade(s) are you using it with? I know they say it can be used up to 5th grade. I'm trying to follow the Charlotte Mason method in our homeschooling and grammar is my biggest hang-up. I noticed that Simply Charlotte Mason recommends JAG spread over two years - 5th and 6th (going into 7th if needed). Do you think this is reasonable? (SCM has Analytical Grammar starting in 8th grade.)

I'm trying to streamline our schedule for next year and I like the idea of less time spent on grammar. We really, really need to work on writing. I'll have a 5th and 6th grader.

(I've thought of just taking our current grammar - CLE - at a slower pace, but I am very much a completionist and it really bugs me not to finish something in the course of the year.)

  2. One thing to consider if whether you care about the Creationist viewpoint of science or not. Apologia is definitely in the "young earth" camp. Since I am, too, I prefer Jeannie Fulbright's books. We have Usborne, too, but for our science text, I prefer one written from that standpoint.

We did Astronomy last year and my son still pulls it off the shelf and reads it, more than he does our other space and astronomy books.

  3. Yep, we didn't use EHE either. We also added books from the library. If you could find it, I would highly recommend the book "Ties That Bind" when you're studying China. There is a follow-up book to that one, but I don't remember the name.

Do you know the author for that book? I'm finding quite a few with that title.
