I know nothing about her, but I do know this: not living in the governor's mansion isn't necessarily a fiscal benefit. Illinois' illustrious governor refuses to live in the governor's mansion and it's costing the state a LOT to maintain the mansion and pay for him to fly from Chicago to Springfield.

 

Now, I'll go read up on her. I am hoping she'll get me excited about the election, because so far, I haven't been.

 

I worked for Alaska Air for 13 years and it's driving distance from Wasilla to Anchorage. I suppose you could fly but I don't know many that do. It's a different world up there and more simple too. I doubt very much that she is costing the state more money but likely trying to give her kids a stable life by not moving them out of their schools and such. I'm not sure but I bet that has something to do with it. She is likely just a simple girl.

I can now vote for him. It was going to kill me to do it but now I can do it. I haven't voted for him in several elections for our state. He keeps pulling the votes and doing nothing about illegal immigration but we won't talk about that. lol It's a sore subject for me.

 

Love his choice and love her. I'm trying to wrap my brain around the 3 day thing but then it was likely light duties anyways. I work at home so why can't she. It shows dedication and her keeping her pregnancy shows high character.

We are new to HS and boy I'm overwhelmed but it's getting better. I'm HS a Dyslexic/ADD child and a ADHD/Asperger child so this adds to our challenges in choices.

 

I currently have this for our needs and I'm sharing so that you can share with me why you like TOG.

We are using a little Konos also for some Units to add to our group.

 

I'm a curriculum junkie. lol

 

I'm trying to see if changing some things would mess me up and what I can do. What do you like about it? What is the initial costs? Do you buy all of the units? HOw does it work? I have looked at the website but I'm seeing the bundle but what does that get you? I guess I'm a little confused. It's a lot of money to spend if it doesn't work for you. I wouldn't mind buying it used.

I'm a conservative and well my problem is the church he belonged to for 20 years bashing racial tones and his wife talking about being american or ashamed of it. If you can't be proud to be an American no matter whom is the president and no matter which party they are involved with then why even be involved with the race to begin with. I have issues with that let alone the right to bear arms. What is he afraid of anyways? I'm not going to go to religeous views but that has something to do with it for me and don't get me started on everything else. I'm truly being toned down but his wife really upsets me. I'm far from his party. Yikes... there my mouth goes ..... sorry

You can't. From everything that I've read, Obama doesn't think that citizens should be able to own/carry guns. This is a deal breaker for me. Of course McCain isn't as supportive of such things as one might think either. The NRA gave him a C+ which is pretty low for a "conservative."

 

I'm not voting for either one of them.

 

Well I may get in trouble for saying this but I live in Arizona and he has done nothing for us in Arizona. I haven't voted for him for quite a while but he's a democrat in drag. This is not a comment about democrats it just means he is more liberal then he protrays. I don't want either one but I will vote.. shudder.

We've been thinking of changing it, though, to Brick Shoe Academy after my blog. Long story short: I tell people I'm the old woman who lives in a shoe, and our house is brick. Maybe that name won't embarass the kids...

 

We don't have to in Arizona either. I just have to file with the county and that is it.

The only experience we had with our boys was the stomping out of a room for not getting their way with something or getting what they wanted. I did the same thing. whatever.... it does work because we didin't make a big deal out of it most of the time.

I'm just curious about something. We are new to HS, do you really have to have a name? What is the purpose of having one? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I am so loving these schedules. I'm an overwelmed mom and trying to work two special needs kids together and this gives me ideas for that. I wish I knew Excel. I have it but don't know how to use it. Thanks for the post and for sharing.

I'm a mom of 4 special needs kids and only one of my boys had SE prior to K. They don't usually do anything until after that. I HS my younger two boys and wish I would have done it at the beginning. I agree start with the beginning because some boys are just not ready at five and it has nothing to do with any learning issues. He may be mature due to being the only child also common. Hugs and prayers to you for doing this.

[Cost of Homeschooling]

$1000 for this year so far. This is for two kids. We bought some expensive things that we will use for more than one year so this really is a savings in so many ways. We will likely spend another $500. We haven't included sports, art or music in the amount. This is books only and nothing else. I bet it's even more. I'll have to look into it further.
