We are having a house built right now. Our options were 25% of total cost and we went as cheap as we possibly could. We have a lot of things we are going to do later. Our builder started building the wrong floor plan. That stalled the project 1.5 months as they tried to determine how to fix the mess they made. The home was vandalized and will have to be repaired and reinspected before they can proceed. Our estimate for completion was 7 months. It will be at least 10.5 months due to a combination of weather, vandalism, and plain stupidity. I would not do this from a distance.

Two years ago I was suffering so badly that I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs. I had to crawl up the stairs. I now exclusively wear Fit Flops and tennis shoes. Stretching with a towel helped me too although I found a towel too short and used a bed sheet instead. I used to stretch every morning for about five minutes before getting out of bed. I would stretch throughout the day as well. I'm symptom free at the moment and hope to stay that way!

what I was told is that the activation kit comes with 4 SIM cards...one for each major carrier. Please do not tell me that isn't right. All I got in the mail from tracfone was one little SIM card...and a bunch of instructions.
My activation kit came with multiple SIM cards. I bought the kit at Best Buy.

Without going into too much detail, I could use some prayers/ good thoughts for my kiddo who is suffering from mental illness and for the sale of my house. I think I could handle one or the other but maintaining a perfectly spotless home while managing a mental health crisis is slowly killing me and it's not good for anyone.

My ds has a hard time at school staying on the right website when they are doing online learning. He always wants to look at new lego sets, movie trailers, etc. Basically he wants to do anything but his assigned work. He's getting in significant trouble for this behavior.
I've asked the school if they can limit his access to the two or three sites he actually needs to use. The IT department responded that you either get all the websites allowed by the school or nothing. I asked the school if he could have a dedicated laptop that blocked all but the needed sites and they responded with the same answer. I offered to bring my own laptop and they said it was still impossible if you connected to their server.
Is that true? I know you you used to be able to block all websites but specifically allowed sites on Windows 8. I'm not confident that it still exists with Windows 10. Does anyone know how I could make this happen? I want him to be able to access a couple websites and nothing more while utilizing the school's internet.

So glad it worked out ok.
My two year old locked me out of the house one day while I was shoveling snow. I was barefoot (don't ask) and it was so cold. Luckily my friend was on her way over anyway and she was able to meet dh halfway between the house and his office to get the house keys. My poor girl was in the house just bawling. She knew she had locked the door but couldn't unlock it. It was the worst 45 minutes ever! I was freezing and watching my terrified daughter through the sidelights hoping it wouldn't traumatize her forever.

I've been in many homes that look much like this one. It's pretty standard multi-million Phoenix area. That house is cheap because of the location. You'll find the exact same thing in North Scottsdale for much, much more.

There are big houses and there are nice houses. This house is big. The materials are expensive. That's all I can say.

My grandparents have been staying at a hospital rehab center since first of January so when abuser and mil come in town I will be staying there. However, their home is an hour from my kids school so during the week we will need to be back home. Honestly though I predict that he won't even come out once she confronts him. I don't care that this goes against her happy vision for her life as a grandma. If I leave my man which would be super easy since we are not married, I would have zero control over who sees our kids when he is with them. You know? So please keep the words coming!
I'm the first person to make sure my kids attend school but this is a situation I would miss school over. You do not need to be back home during the week to attend school. If you want them to attend school, stay with friends, make the hour drive each day, but do not stay at your house. Personally, I'd leave town and I wouldn't come back until I knew they were gone.

You guys are saying exactly what i hope to communicate to these kids. I also believe that gods will is bigger than a single linear path and if we stray, we'll too bad, you're doomed for life.

I'm confused. Do you really think you're doomed for life? Your next post seems to say that you think that's a misconception. Personally, I believe in the power of the atonement that allows for repentance. I believe in forgiveness.
I would tell my child to pray, read scripture, listen to counsel, and serve others. I would tell my child to research options, take an option to the Lord in prayer, then listen and take action. I would also tell them not to be so afraid to make a mistake than inaction is their downfall.

For sure. I've sold more houses at a loss than I care to think about. When I factor how large of a loss I am willing to take, I pretty much figure how much it would have cost me to rent the house and subtract the loan interest. If I'm better off owning the house than I would have been renting it, I'll take the loss. I've always had plenty of equity and the losses haven't exceeded $30,0000. I also sold a house with a huge profit so I am still very much ahead.

I see what you are saying, however, I am wondering how I calculate lack of mortgage for 5 years into this equation?
Personally, I wouldn't consider the lack of mortgage into the equation. A CPA might view that differently though. I'm not sure.

Maybe so, but you won't be tripling you investment. If you paid 43, are borrowing 30, and I'd guess you've done at least 10 in improvements thus far, you've now invested 83 in the home. In my area, it would cost you a minimum of 7 for real estate fees. Now you're at 90. You're into the house much more than you're making it sound when you adopt the mindset that you're tripling you're money. That's not the situation here.
What would I do? I'd probably try to sell as is and if that doesn't prove fruitful, I'd then invest in the home. Unless there's a real urgency to move, I wouldn't borrow money to fix the house. If it were me and this was my only asset, I'd stay in the house and live in it they way it is and put a heavy emphasis on saving for retirement while slowly renovating the house.

Nope. I have family there and their 3 bed, 1.75 bath house is 350k+ and is 1300 square feet. That pretty much sums up why I will never move back to PDX.
