I'm trying to attach photos of our school room - I hope I can get it to work. We just moved, and it's still a work in progress. I've got a bit of painting left to do. The little extension area past the built in book case is the art area - the kids have their own work areas if they want to work alone, and we have a big table in the center to work together. The science center is in between the windows, and we also have a computer area. I'm still working on getting the shelves and closet organized.... someday! :)

Each month includes an activity book for 2 states, post cards and a paper pop-out and build landmark. The initial package comes with a bunch of goodies - listed in my above post. One subscription could be shared between two children easy enough. The activity books are cute and very colorful. They have seek and finds, word searches, basic timelines of historical events, and usually a recipe from each state. I will say; however, that my kiddos are not as enthusiastic about the USA edition as the Global Edition. I suppose the paper pop-outs aren't as much fun as the trinkets they used to get with the world edition. Their favorite part is the post cards.
If you sign up, check first at Homeschool Buyers Co-op - they often have discounts for both Little Passport Editions.
Cheers!

O'Hana is definitely a great choice, as well as Le Cellier - good picks! Our new favorite is Boma - Flavors of Africa. So tasty!!

If I remember correctly, she suggests using it as a supplement along with AAS level 3. It isn't required, and isn't mentioned in any of the lessons. I own it; however, I've yet to use it, so I can't offer any other info as to whether or not it's beneficial.

I can't really comment on either program - as I've never used PLL, and we JUST started using Arrow today. I just wanted to let you know that Brave Writer subscriptions are available at the HSBC for 50% off.

Another vote for Timez Attacks. My dd9 plays it regularly, and enjoys it - it has really helped her with her facts. There is a free version, and a paid version. From what I understand, the free one goes through all of the facts; however, the scenery doesn't change much. It also has a division version, but we haven't given it a try yet - we plan to soon. They usually have a 20% discount at HSBC.

Try to get a reservation at Boma - Flavors of Africa. It's located in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's a buffet, and the food is AMAZING! :drool5:

Fun - our butterflies just emerged the day before yesterday, and my daughter is taking our ladybugs to release them in her Grandparent's garden tomorrow!
Praying Mantis... now that would be neat - I think I'll have to put in an order! :thumbup1:

We also use these as supplements - all of my kids enjoy them. My 3 y/o is working on book A of the Get Ready for the Code series. My 5 y/o is just a couple pages from finishing up book 2. My 9 y/o has already completed the series - she flew through book 4; however, she had already done syllables with AAS. They work well for reinforcement.

Scrambled States of America is a fun game too. http://www.amazon.co...ates of america
:iagree:
My kiddos love this game, as well as the storybook. My 5 y/o is able to name states by their shapes and show where they belong on the map from reading the story. My dd9 has all of the capitals and nicknames memorized from playing the game - definitely an enjoyable way to learn the states!

Sunny and 68 here in El Paso - We spent most of our day outside riding bikes and playing on the trampoline. It won't be long before it's too hot to go outside here - so, I suppose we should enjoy while we can! :thumbup1:

We went to the LegoLand Discovery Center last time we were in Dallas. It would be best to go during the week, or at most, be sure to order your tickets online, and pick the 1030 entry (opening time) - it gets insanely crowded in there, and the wait to get in can get pretty long. There are 2 little rides, a walkthrough area to see Lego Dallas, a couple 4D movies, indoor playground, Duplo station, Lego Friends Karaoke castle, and a build and race car station. They also just recently opened the Lego City car track - it has police cars for the kids to drive around a track VERY slowly. It is very small, and though my kiddos (who are lego obsessed) had a good time, we didn't really think it was worth the price of admission. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to do everything if there isn't any wait lines.
My kiddos love to go to the Rainforest cafe - it's in the same mall as LegoLand. The volcano ice cream cake is their favorite. Have a great trip!

We've stayed at the Riverside for a couple Disney trips while the kids were still tiny - it's connected to Port Orleans. A number of their rooms have trundle beds, so there would be 2 full beds and a twin that tucks under one of them while not in use. Like others have said, one of the value resorts have decently priced family suites - I've never stayed there, so I can't comment on those. We've been taking the kids to Disney since they were infants. It's definitely doable, so long as you do some planning before you go. May is a decent time to go while the PS kiddos are finishing up end of the year exams and such. If it's your first trip, you might want to check out this out - it'll be super handy for planning.

Money can always be spent on "other things" - but family time and great memories - that's always money well spent. Happy travels!

I have 5 pair of VFF, they're all I wear - haven't worn any other type of shoe for over 3 years. I'd love to tell you that you'll get used to them, but some people just can't wear them. My very first pair took me a couple weeks to get used to - the fabric felt like it was constantly scratchy around my toes, and was extremely irritating whenever I walked around. After about a week, the fabric settled, and that is now, by far, my favorite pair (KMD Sport). Neither of my brothers can wear them because of Morton's Toe. Those types of issues can't be worked around, unfortunately. Merrell also makes a barefoot type shoe with the soles made by Vibram. They're pretty comfortable, though, they're ever so slightly thicker than the soles they put on the Five Fingers - that was what I started out with. As a fan, I hope they work out for you!

You can find accredited summer camps here:
My dd goes to 2 weeks of summer camp in northern AZ every summer. She waits anxiously all year to go, and talks about it constantly all year as if she had just gotten home the day before.

They have an all inclusive convention in VA - I think it's held in late March...

I like the idea of a book exchange, too. Or maybe request that guests bring a gift for charity? Then your daughter can bring them to the local shelter, or children's hospital. She may enjoy the opportunity to give instead of receive.

I had no idea this was so common - my dd had the same thing happen with her bottom incisors. I took her to the dentist when her teeth started poking through. The doctor pulled her deciduous teeth to make room. It was a quick, easy procedure, and she was excited because the tooth fairy came the first time for 2 teeth.

If you go into the clock on your iPhone, there is a timer already in it - no need for an app. Just check the bar along the bottom, click timer and set it to the amount of time you want and it'll go off when times up.

Have you considered submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau?
They'll jump on it to fix it - if you have documentation, and can name people specifically at Sears that have given you misinformation - even better. The BBB will contact Sears with your complaint (and what you expect in order to resolve the issue) - Sears will then have someone investigate and contact you to resolve the issue. I always go to the BBB when I have issues such as this. If the business refuses to work with you, the BBB will issue a lawyer; however, I've never had that happen - seems like as soon as they're contacted by the BBB, the information you were ripping your hair out trying to get them to provide magically appears before them! The only thing is, this process can often take a couple weeks - because the BBB gives the business so many days to contact you - and I can tell you want this resolved immediately.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

We received our USA welcome pack in October - it was cute, and the kids enjoyed it. It had a large decorated plastic envelope with a notebook/journal about the states, a letter from Sofia and Sam, and a camera with a list of items to seek out and photograph. It also had a scratchpad book to color in drawings of US landmarks and such. We moved last month, and our first state package - TX/NY has been lost in the mail. I contacted the company, and they were great about offering to ship me out another. Hopefully it'll arrive soon.

No surgical procedures for me; however, I bought an inversion table from Teeter Hang Ups. I also have a posture pump that targets the neck area:
I have (had) multiple herniated and bulging disks in my back, straight neck syndrome, sciatica pain, and myofascial pain syndrome - with migraine headaches, arm numbness, and poor posture as a result. I was unable to stand or walk for any length of time, and most days, I could not rotate my neck any farther than an inch to either side. Doing any activities that required me to hold my head at a downward angle (like using a sewing machine, or doing dishes), were completely impossible for me. I have no issues with any of those activities now.
I use both of them twice a day for about 5 minutes each (as soon as I wake and just before bed), and it has completely eliminated my back and neck pain, as well as my migraine headaches.

Genius Scan is also a handy tool with (already existing) documents. It's a free app - it allows you to shoot a pic of a paper document, and it turns it into a pdf. It has an edge trimmer on it, so if you have a little more in the photo, you just chop it off and your doc will have clean lines. Then, you can file them right in the app and email them out.
I have a wireless WiFi printer from HP:
It allows me to print from my laptop, iPads and iPhones from wherever I may be working from in the house.

This is a fantastic museum in Petersburg. It's interactive - they issue headphones at the beginning and they tell stories and give information as you move through the exhibits. It has the Museum of the Civil War Soldier, as well as a restored plantation house that was used as Grant's headquarters, the soldier encampment, fortifications, and trails through the battlefield area. It's really beautifully done. My daughter went to civil war camp there last summer and had a great time.
