  1. I'd love to hear from someone who's used this program for several years. Do you find there is good rentention? I'm using Rod and Staff 5 and would love for something more independent and streamlined.
  2. It's come in very handy for us... in the car or in their rooms. It's puts some of the things they need to memorize to song.
  3. I'm confused. Is this still available via PDF?
  4. I'm confused. In the grammar section of TWTM, Kingfisher is recommended for the grammar stage, and it states it will be used in the logic stage. I don't see Kingfisher listed as basic history texts in the logic stage of TWTM, rather the Usborne internet linked encyclopedia is listed. I'm just wondering, in you experience, what's the preferred history encyclopedia for late grammar, early logic?
  5. Just wondering if I should create our own program following the IEW Teacher or splurge and use the student intensive.
  6. Where are y'all headed after Horizons? I'm thinking about Saxon.
  7. Many thanks everyone. I'm realizing the review is still good practice and mastery includes increase in speed.
  8. Thanks. I'll have to review the prerequisites for beginning the logic stage curriculum. She's able to narrate on her own with some errors. I guess when I heard outlining... it made me think of IEW and perhaps a way to combine some of those skills with out history. Mostly, I wish SOTW was more independent for the independent learner... she can't review the questions alone as the answers are right there.
  9. I guess I've had my head in the sand. I'm hoping to start vol 3 sotw this year. I've been reading about the outlining in vol 4. Is this part of the activity book?? I'm wondering about the format and implementation of this. I'm thinking I could use it in vol 3 with my dd 9yo??
  10. I assume accelerating lessons means eliminating some of the problems in each lesson? Many thanks for the feedback!
  11. Just opened Horizons Math 4. It seems to contain a lot of the material taught in Book 3. Has anyone else found this to be the case? I guess I'll let her take some of the tests and see where to place her in the book?
  12. I'd definitely let her read it with you if it helps with comprehension. Right or wrong, I've been altering our dictation. We're in WWE 3 and dd8 can't do the lengthy dictations if they have unfamiliar language to her. I read up on CM, and I've been letting her study the dictation with me if it's challenging. We talk about the spelling of words and sentence structure. I'll admit too I sometimes allow her to dictate phrases at a time. She breezed through WWE2. I couldn't find much information about how to assist her with strengthening her dictation skills, so I'm giving this a try. I'm hoping it's still teaching her good sentence formation.
  13. I'm looking for tips or ideas on how to help my 8dd with dictation in WWE 3. She does well with the narration, but I find the dictation to be too lengthy and complex for her. I typically repeat the sentences closer to 5X, then when I see she can't get the whole dictation, we work on one sentence at a time. I like using WWE 3 as it compliments FLL 3. I'm not sure if I should find simpler dictation or continue to break it down? Are there any tips to help her with retaining the information. It's especially hard when it's unfamiliar use of words for her.
