  1. Do you have to replace it or can you simply add a wood stove in another area? We have a very nice fireplace in the living room which we have never used. We also have a very functional wood stove in the family room (opposite end of the house) which is used constantly in the winter. It heats the entire first floor and even keeps the upstairs at about 62 at night. Of course, the family room gets pretty warm. We love the wood stove for warmth and also because when we had a power failure, we were able to stay in our house! We even warmed soup on the top and cooked eggs. Let us know what you decide!

  2. I'll start by saying that I have not used BJUP. However, I have used Horizons for several years. What listed sounds like Horizons to me! I am not a math person either, and I find their TM very helpful in teaching new concepts. There is a good amount of review and it moves at a good pace for my kiddos. BJU has hotel displays at a local hotel several times a year. You can go and browse as long as you like. Maybe you could at least take a look at them if there is a display close enough.

  3. If you are math savvy, I would say you could do it without the TM's. Of course, you'd have to do all the calculations when correcting, and that would really be a pain. I am using Horizons 4 this year, and the thought of correcting without a cheat sheet makes me shiver! I find the TM helpful when teaching new concepts. e.g. He began learning about prime numbers this week. I would have had a difficult time without the TM. Almost everything up to this point I could teach without it, though.
