Hello,
I am trying to think of some cool field trips for high school chemistry.
Below is what I have so far:
Waste Water Treatment Plant
Firestation for information about Hazmat
Water quality for streams and rivers
Can you think of some others that might be interesting for high school students?

If they are already doing NCFCA speech & debate, they are getting the skills they need. The fifth day is not needed. They are already analyzing and debating topics.

Homework before camp it not that involved, for the first year. Homework for the alumni is little more involved. Go to the website to look at the homework requirements.
My dd says it more government type stuff. It is a select few that discuss the bills and the audience votes for the bill. Whereas in NCFCA everyone gets a chance to either debate of give a speech in the preliminary rounds. The camp gets to tour parts of the capitol and sometimes get to see one of the branches in action. The some students choose to run for office and they hold elections. The students work in committees to discuss the bills.
Camp: The students play, frisbee, basketball, have bible study groups, have dinner, hear a speaker, talk and hang out.
Several students participate in both NCFCA and TeenPact. Some take the opportunity to staff state events, and others apply to be part of the traveling Teenpact team.
Teenpact and NCFCA speech & debate are different learning experiences. Teen pact helps students to become more knowledgeable about how government works. While
NCFCA helps students learn public speaking skills, debate skills, research skills, and business skills. Also, my older dd said that participating in debate also, helped her when she had to do essay type tests at college, she was able to quickly organize her thoughts into the essay format.

The student by doing the homework and going to the class will earn 1/3 of their government credit. They will write a bill and learn about the process for it to become a law. They get to dress up for business. After the class for the day, students go back to a camp. They get to have some down time. Usually they have a guest speaker come in the evening.
This is a Christian organization.

If she plans to do marketing she needs to know how to use power point and have a good background in public speaking.

Public Speaking: Find a local Toastmasters, also look into the homeschool speech & debate leagues, to gain public speaking skills
A course in Photoshop would help with graphic design
Public speaking will help with marketing.

You could add a few extra books with it. If you use Jill Pike's syllabus with it you can get a year's worth of work out of the course. It teaches students how to analyze literature.
Also, some people use the Teaching the Classics DVD's to start with. They give you an overview of the terms in literature.

Can you name some short story anthologies? For example one for American literature, World Literature and British Literature.

Which do you prefer for yearbooks TreeRing or Picaboo? Why?
Do you have a make a class for the yearbook or is it like club?

Suitable for a Christian audience, around 30 actors, preferably a play, once a week co-op, small stage available, class fees $25.00 a semester so limited props, and students provide their own costumes.

What plays has your co-op or cover school put on?
We are planning for next year. I would love to know what plays you have performed.

It is interesting. I had been homeschooling for a while, when I went through it at church. Sometimes, I wanted it to go a little deeper. It would be a good start. If you can afford, send her to Summit, it is a two week worldview camp.

Do the Elegant Essay first semester. Then do the Speech boot camp second semester. The Elegant Essay will feed into Speech Boot camp, and make his speeches better. Count the Speech as separate subject with 1/2 credit. Count the Elegant Essay and Literature as one whole English credit.

Just make sure your children are aware of the different world religions and what the different religions believe in. If you understand what a religion believes, then your child will have a better understanding of why cultures behave the way they do. It would be a good ideal to compare the different religions to see how they treat their women, children and others that do not adhere to their religion. You might want to look at how they view their God and what he or she does for them. Look at the issue of orgins and how they treat the earth. So much of history is influenced by religion.

Elegant Essay does not have the checklist where you have to put the six sentence openers and six dress-ups/decorations, in every paragraph. It teaches your student how to write an essay. Now if you child decides to write four sentences in a row that start with "He", you may want have him come up with a few different ways to start his sentences. You want you student to use different styles sentences in his paper, but Elegant Essay does not demand it.

The above has links to books about speeches. If you get chance go to a tournament and watch. You can also Google NCFCA on youtube to see some of what these students do.

Progeny Press has several guides. They give a brief synopsis of the book, a small bio of the author,it divides the book into sections to be studied. Each section has vocabulary words, comprehension questions, along the way some literary terms are explained and gives some examples from the book. There is also a thinking section, which has questions based off Bible verses and how it applies to the literature. Smarr Publishers has similar guides.
Schmoop has a lot of literature type guides online.
Excellence in Literature has study guides based on type of literature. But it is more of a unit study course based on the book.

For debate ask if they are doing a summer camp. That would be a good way to immerse him in it. Ask where a local speech and debate tournament is being held. Have him go observe it, this will give both of you a good ideal of what the finished product will look like.
Have him start praticing impromptu speaking. Give him a quote and tell he has two minutes to prepare a speech about the quote. Look up some youtube videos of the league you are joining.
