  1. I'll check that out. I'm considering Elemental Science next year too. Thanks, Renee
  2. I think I'm going to try it again...I'll let you know how it goes :001_smile:
  3. That is really cool....I like the "no dates" part. Then you don't fell like you are behind all the time. I think I might try this :)
  4. Servin, That is very interesting. I've never thought of doing that.... So you print out the lesson plan for the entire year for each subject, for each student? and then they check it off as they go? An I understanding you correctly?
  5. Streams of Civilization or The New Nation? I don't really want to use This Country of Ours. Any thoughts? Thank you, Renee
  6. Sounds like there is a market for these......any curriculum companies listening????
  7. I think I have a Sonlight IG around here somewhere.....I'll have to go look for it.
  8. Danielle, Yes! I am very interested. Please PM me. :001_smile: Servin, I can totally relate to "failing miserably" in checking things off etc. That is what I'm trying to avoid next year :) I am interested to hear more about how you did things. I'll re-read your post, but I'm not sure if I quite understand everything. Everyone else, Thank you so much for your replies...I love the feedback on this board ! I think you are right about a 6 week trial. That would be a lot of paper with my # of children :)
  9. I know, but my problem was that I would always get behind in checking things off and rescheduling etc. so on Monday mornings my kids would have no schedule. I just thought they could check things off on the paper instead of on the computer. I don't really need to print out reports or anything. I'd only be using it to make a schedule. Does that make sense? Kind of like Sonlight does I guess, but this would be my own.
  10. Does anyone use this to print out the entire year schedule and then have it bound or something? Wouldn't that be like any pre-made schedule purchased from a company but with your own curr. ? I'm just looking for some feed back. This idea came to me today, and I'm wondering if it would be helpful to keep us on track next year. I've used HST in the past but gave it up last year b/c I could not keep up with checking things off in the program. I would skip that step and just use it to make my schedule. What do you think? Can you see any draw backs I'm overlooking? Thanks, Renee
  11. I'd love that! :) Would it be compatible with WRTR?
  12. I am impressed! I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do all the work. I've designed them before so I guess I can do it all again. I'm also contemplating using HST+ to make a schedule for the entire year and just print them out for each child. I won't check things off in the program, I'll just use it to make my schedules. Then, we can check things off as they get done. We may not finish everything, but at least we'll know where we are at all times :) I put away HST last year because I just never could keep up with checking off what was complete etc. I would always get behind. But I could use it just to print off the schedule right? Or am I missing something. I can't believe no one has a link to a generic sonlight schedule. I thought for sure it would be easy to find. Know what you mean about planners. I never can find one with what I need. Maybe I should design my own! :) Renee
  13. Sure :) http://www.easyclassical.com/index.html
  14. Thanks Heather, I will think about those options. I'm going over to look at Mega Words right now :) I also liked Explode the Code for the little ones. Do you know anything about those? I'll have to do a search of the boards. Renee
  15. I've been over looking at "Easy Classical" , and I like the way her schedules are set up. They look like Sonlight Schedules. Where could I get a template for one of these so I can fill in my own curriculum? Renee
  16. As someone who is doing Y3 next year, what spine would you recommend? I'd like something fairly accurate and unbiased (don't we all!) Is there something close? Or could I just skip that and just do the in-depth reading? Any suggestions?
  17. Here's a thought....what if I did AAS with my K and 1st grader and had my older three do R&S spelling independently?
  18. Thank you all so much. It really helps me to see what I would be getting into. Renee
  19. This doesn't seem to be a popular spelling program on these boards. Is there a reason? How does it compare to AAS? Thank you, Renee
  20. How would I use AAS with a K, 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th grader? Is that even possible without taking the whole school day? Thanks, Renee
  21. Thanks! Looks great, but I know it would never get done here. I envy people who can do all those cool things :)
  22. Any curriculum out there in workbook format that teaches reading using the philosophy found in WRTR or SWR? I'm starting my next one in K next year and I'm wondering if I can find something to use other that A Beka. Thanks, Renee (....who shouldn't be up at 12:30am thinking about curriculum choices!! Doubts seem to lurk relentlessly at this hour!)
  23. Thank you all, you have been very helpful. I want to combine the 4th and 5th grader, but then next year my 5th grader will be in 6th grade doing R&S 5. I hate for her to feel like she is "behind". What do you suggest? I'm combining them for time sake (6 kids to teach)....At first I was going to use grade level R&S for each of them, now I don't know what to do. I even looked at A beka again! I'm shooting for a much more easy going school day next year without compromising on their academics. Is that possible? HELP:confused:
