  1. That certainly would work... but it wouldn't pick up any threads that referred only to R&S. Hardly anyone types it all out. And of course, I'm just using R&S as an example. What's the solution? Not use acronyms anymore (not if you want your comments to be "findable" by anyone searching the forums)? I'm sure this can and will be worked out, but it's going to take some thought and possibly effort on our part.
  2. Yeah! Another good feature... no more duplicate posts! How many times have I cluttered the other board with that mistake! Welcome, larva. We are being assimilated :)
  3. See my post above, and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'd be happy to type a few keystrokes if it would deliver my search results.
  4. No, not a stretch at all... if there were only a few other extra letters to type! But there's not. That's sorta my point. If I want to search for posts about Rod and Staff Math, if I put in Rod and Staff the search will abort because the words "Rod" and "and" are three letter words. If I put in R&S, the search will abort for the same reason. I'd be happy to suck it up and type in a few extra letters to get my search, if someone could show me how! LOL
  5. Congrats to E! Give her a big hug from both of us! I was wondering about you just yesterday... how the transfer is going. We need to get together. I'm going to miss threads staying in the same order, too. I'm sure if I were used to this format, though, I wouldn't like the other. I'm an old dog. I don't like new tricks :).
  6. Maybe this can be fixed? You can not search for any word that contains less than four letters. For example, you can't search for posts about R&S English, because R&S is less than four letters. I discovered this when I decided to "test" the search feature to see if it pulled up the thread on the HS board re: BJU and TT math. This means that if we use terms like SL, etc., we won't be able to find those threads later when we try to search for them. Most homeschool acronyms that I can think of are just two or three letters, so I see this as a pretty big deal. Am I overlooking something? If not, hopefully Bob will see this and consider changing the search requirements. Robin
  7. Is there a TE or Answer Key for this book? Yes, I need one. (sigh...) Thanks, Robin
  8. Just finished Zafon's Shadow of the Wind, and found it very enjoyable. I definitely recommend it.
  9. If you are in threaded mode, then the quick reply box automatically pops up, and your post will be linked to the one you're commenting on. Otherwise, if you are not in threaded mode, then when you want to respond to a particular post, you can click on "Quick Reply" which is down there on the right next to the Quote Box, and this same reply box opens up. Makes it a lot easier to respond to a specific post. But I'm not sure everyone will do that. I think you're right and that most will just hit the main reply button at the bottom of the page.
  10. When you open a thread, you can click on "Display mode" in upper right hand corner and select "threaded" and then the thread will display similar to the way it did on the old board. You still have to open up the thread, though. I don't think you can display the whole board in threaded mode. I think it's easier to follow in threaded mode (you know which comments are in response to which ones) Robin
  11. Well, congratulations to them and to you, Susan. The new boards look great, and I can tell it took a lot of work. I hope this means you get to see that baby more often :).
  12. I don't know, Krista... being low level larvae has its advantages. And you know, I can't say it would make me feel very good to see the words "Queen Bee" under my name anyway! LOL
  13. This is my 11th post. I should be larvae by now. So at 50, you get to be a worker bee? This is really funny. I wonder who came up with all this? LOL
  14. Yes, he lives in Seattle. I thought of him when I saw the location. So how do you know this, Amy? Was there an announcement on the other board? I'm asking only because there seems to be some general knowledge that I'm missing out on, and I'm wondering if I missed an announcement or something.
  15. I agree with Jean that it is going to be much more difficult to rush in and scan all the conversations quickly. The upswing is I'm not as tempted to "hang out" on this type forum, which is a good thing as far as time management goes... This is a great forum and I'm excited for everyone, but I'm kinda sad, too. It will take some getting used to, that's for sure!
  16. It says they are in Seattle. Does that mean the board administrators are not at Peace Hill Press? Just curious...
  17. P.S. I don't know how to do an avatar, but as soon as I figure it out, I'll try to upload one. Jenn... my dd started lessons back last week. We've got some work to do, but she feels great and we're really excited! One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand... Post number 5! Gonna scoot around the forum and get a few in elsewhere...
  18. and this will be four :) ... I noticed I have to wait 30 seconds between posts. One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand...
  19. It called me "Just Visiting." Do the larvae have seniority over the just visiting? :D
