Thank you for this thread. My daughter's love language is "gifts" and it is not mine; this thread gave me a nudge to send her a package. It included a Starbucks gift card because every single college in the PNW has one or one is within a couple of blocks,

Congrats to the newly listed! I think I have the list updated properly.
You rock!

One of my son's top choices has no EA, and everyone who applies will find out in mid-March. Absolute torture. We are still waiting for a couple of his EA to respond. I honestly think it puts me more on edge than my son.

Daughter's last class will end at 4:20 pm today! We are under an hour a way with no traffic. Mostly though, there is a lot of traffic.

Yay! Son received his first acceptance - Colorado State University!

The list is getting so exciting!

It's with regrets that I have to withdraw my name from the list. After talking to the head of the department, and then being "tossed around", the university just doesn't know what to do with me.
I'm too strong to start from the beginning (they said that after evaluating me), but they won't set aside the prerequisites for the more advanced classes. So my file was passed on to the graduate department, but I missed those deadlines for January. And they won't set aside that rule either. Plus I don't want a Masters, I just want some refresher courses.
So let this list here be for our kids and let's celebrate their accomplishments!!!
:confused1: :grouphug: sorry!

I finally asked him to compare it to his own job - if everything he's been doing for TWELVE years culminated in outside/stranger judgment all in one swoop. No mid-term evaluation - just save it all up for the verrrrrrrrry end and hope for the best!
Love this analogy!

:grouphug: Sorry. (Sounds like something my son and I would do.)

Not too sure if this is allowed or not...
*I* am going back to university!!!
Concordia University in Montreal, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. I meet with a counselor next week, and I start in January 2016
Totally allowed! Congrats!

Blah :ack2: I just finished the CSS profile. Amazingly, I thought that it was more confusing (and definitely more intrusive) than the FAFSA. If I were to do it all again - I wouldn't.

I think my college girl misses her brother more than the other way around; then again, she does show a lot more emotion than he does.

My daughter is doing well in classes. She is super excited though because she feels like she finally figured out a major - well, actually two majors and a minor. She can now hardly wait to figure out her schedule; she had been dragging her feet. At this time, she wants to major in Exercise Science and Nutrition, and minor in psychology. I am grateful she is excited about a course of action (even if it changes).

In my course descriptions, I have listed the works the student has read for English simply by the name of the work and the author. However, for all other resources, I am citing them in the same way I would for an MLA paper. Does this work?
Yikes, I freaked out when I first read this. I am glad others just used Title and Author (which is what I did).

Yay, for your whole family! Congrats! I am super excited for you and your son! I have had the some of the same feelings as you - you just put yours into words on this board.

So, I just noticed that one of the schools ds has applied to has a Nov 15th deadline. Do I Have to fill this out? They haven't even said they accepted him yet and as of this time it is on the lower half of his list? I also noticed that we have to PAY to fill submit the thing. Pay AND give them all my information, and I don't know if they will even accept dear son?! I am at at quandary.

I included the Compass test my dc were required to take to get into the DE program.

Well, it looks like I missed something. I did not put our annual testing on the CA. Ds took the ACT in 10th grade for that year, but I did not put anything for 9th. I also included the Compass test that he had to pass to go DE.
On the other hand, when I completed the CA last year for dd, I did not put 9th or 10th grade testing in either and she was admitted to all the schools she applied to.

Just finished the counselor report. It is out of my hands now, whether it is well written or not.

Are you finding your colleges want a letter of recommendation from you? So far those I've had talked to want me to fill out the counselor section but not with a recommendation and get someone else to write a letter of recommendation. In my daughter's case it will be her gymnastics coach since she's been a competitive gymnast for 11 years.
I never even thought of NOT writing one - or asking for that matter. He does have a teacher writing one. Last year, the four I sent the CA to for my daughter did not ask me to get someone else, I think I will just go with me for now. If I had one more kid to do this with I might have asked- but I am done.
It would be interesting to see if anyone else has been told to hold back and get a replacement.

I still have the most difficult, though not most time consuming section of the CA to go - the LOR. But hey, I pressed the button for the School Report! I know many of you have already done so.
Okay, enough procrastinating- off to work on the LOR (pray for me :tongue_smilie:).

I put any and all resources for all of my course descriptions.

I found a "cursive" font and used that for my transcripts and LOR. It adds a little bling.
College kids living at home- how's that work out?

My daughter Could potentially
carpoolcommute - it's about 45 min with no traffic, but would more often be 1 - 1.5 hrs on a normal morning and evening. But, honestly, for me I don't think I could handle them at this stage living at home and going to school. They are super kids, but my son especially is not very (at all!) neat. I would want more help around the house than they would have time for, then I'd get annoyed with them for not having the time. I hate having glaring evidence of my selfish nature staring at me everyday. :laugh:Edited to change word to commute.
